First Post
Hi everybody
First time poster. I'm putting together my new campain for my friends and I've settled on a high magic, but low magic item, and gritty campain. Probably with a high death toll. I'm shooting for a combination of Young Kingdoms, Hyborea, and Malazan books of the fallen, sprinkled with real world cultures and my own imagination. One of the things that fascinated me about the old rolemaster system was the sheer glut of classes and I want to recreate that since my campain is going to be particuarly deadly. I want lots of options to tease my players into trying something out of their comfort level. To that end I am going to be using gestalt classes as well as a number of the complete series and third party publisher core classes. I really want to make them not just a collection of numbers and stats but classes that have some story behind them. In a way that is similar to the Quintessential two series, I want to give each and every one of the gestalt class combos a new, evocative name and maybe a line or two about their role in the world. and some sort of minor mechanical benefit for choosing that combination to seperate themselves from the herd.
For example, the Ashen Herald is a Bard/Unholy Warrior combination. they represent the political emassaries of the demonic realms on the physical plane. a small number of vile and diabolic spells are added to the bards spell list.
The Souless (Warlock/Unholy Warrior) are born and not made, the souless are rare beings who have their soules stolen from them by dark priestly magics. They are all NE in alignment and cannot have their alignment changed through any mechanism.
Plague Wytches (Druid/Necromancer) Hags who brew deadly toxins and virulent plagues with their dark arts in an effort to cleanse the world of what is unclean. at twentith level, instead of becoming a lich, Plague Wytches take on the form a whatever type of hag they choose and gain all stat bonus, ex and su abilities of the hag, as well as the ability to creat Hags eyes.
Crown Slayers (Assassin/Noble) Assassins who specialize in the murder of the titled. small bonus to ht and dmg when fighting nobility.
Grey Lords (Paladin/Necromancer) Fanatical paladins who've studied long forgotten necromanctic Lore so that when the need is great they can bind the fallen faithful into an army for their god. Can create undead of the remains of the faithful when the need is great and not lose paladin powers.
So you see what I'm getting at. I don't really need the PHB class combo names because I'm going to be using the ones from the Q2 series (which everyone should buy). I need help with coming up with all sorts of names and blurbs for some of the more exotic combinations. Example: what should I call a Necromancer/Gladiator? Gladiator and just about everything is hard to come up with.
I'm using the following new base classes: Assassins, Unholy Warriors, and Necomancers (Green Ronin Pub), Gladiators and Basarian Dancers (Kalamar) Psions, Wilders, Soulblades, Swashbuckers, Hexblades, Warlocks, Shamans, Favored Souls, Marshals, nobles and scouts.eed to come up with names combining each of these new classes with each other and with the PHB classes except for the combinations Paladin/Unholy Warrior, which would just be silly Even the more exotic combinations and combos which might not be allowed according the Al rstrictions I want to try and use, ie, Paladin/Necromancer.
So, bring forth the imaginations. I know you all have them.
