Let's Play #6 DMG Kobold Hall (Level 1)

The Characters still at Level 1- Scenario End.

Note the following have been recreated using D&D Character Builder and so are slightly different to the guys we played in game- themes were not in-game at the time, and I’m sure the PCs hit points were all lower. However for some strange reason I didn’t keep details- or at least complete character sheets for all of the PCs- therefore I’ve had to re-do them.

Back in Fallcrest the +1 Staff of the War Mage is sold and Mr. Benn gets himself a new Holy Symbol, ta da…

Let's Play #6 DMG Kobold Hall (Level 1)

The guys head back to Fallcrest and in particular to meet with Sergeant Murgeddin, the dwarf Watch Commander of the Wizard’s Gate, and their patron for this adventure. The guys are rewarded well, we played out this part of the operation in the last thirty minutes of the session, and needless to say I adopted a suitably Scottish accent ‘laddie’, for the whole thing.

It was made clear that the adventuring group were to be Murgeddin’s go to guys should other adventures arise- this was met with a chorus of approval, as was the pile of gold dished out for the four infamous, but now dead, kobold bandits they took down. The guys are rich- several of them demonstrate their wealth by getting very drunk in the Nentir Inn- the most expensive place they could find- I did my best to provide a bit of flavour in the Inn- drunks trying to cadge coppers for booze, a few flirtatious ladies (sorta) and a shady fellow who managed to sell Bharash an attack tortoise. Yes, you read that right- that’s really what happened, the guys seemed eager to play along, it needs to be noted that this is the kind of thing that makes D&D a great (and fun) game- it’s also possible even in 4th edition.

After a peremptory shopping trip- we were running out of time, Mr. Benn manages to sell the Staff of the War Mage and with a suitable donation to his church (basically all the money he made for the staff and some more of his own) for a +1 Symbol of Divine Reach (his choice). The other magic item- the +1 Lifedrinker Longsword was obviously taken by Bharash who wields a longsword anyway. We diced to see who would get to swap out the staff for a magic item.

The adventurers take rooms at various Inns, depending on their relative wealth, a few of them had spent a big chunk of their money on new clothes, adventuring gear, booze and of course, an attack tortoise (called Jeff- I’ve just remembered that fact). The guys however are ready and willing, awaiting Murgeddin, or any other reasonable patron’s, call.

The adventures of the Kidz, I just made that name up- we don’t have a name for these guys, continues in Let’s Play #7 Wizard’s Free RPG Scenario Into the Shadowhaunt (Level 1).

See you there.

Just a short note to say this story is also available at Obsidian Portal (in the Wiki section but just follow the links), as well as the write up the PC stats (in Characters section) and the Monster stats (in Items section) are also available there.

I'll add the other stories etc. when they are completed here- check the Adventure Log section to see what's been completed.

Thank you Goonalan.
