Living Star Wars Saga: Adventure 1: Welcome to Haon

The Cruise ship "Exorbitant" opened its airlocks to you a day ago, and along with a crowd of everyone from tourists to businessmen you were pulled along by its lure of free food and board for the first week to all registered guests. The crowd is immediately welcomed by a host of smiling Bix stewards and Gammorean security in uniform jump suits, and sorted swiftly to various decks and rooms (though a significant sorting had already taken place before the ships left whatever port).

Those of you looking for work make the inquiries, but are told that all questions must be related to the ship's personelle officer, and that a scheduled appointment will be made (and they'll send you the time/place when they have time); in the meantime, you are told that you are free to enjoy the hospitality of the ship until then.

Once sorted, you have the opportunity to see the various parts of the ship (oooh, the Casino! And the shopping!), sample the foods (mmm, lineups at the buffet!), and enjoy the entertainment (everything from Wookie comedians to dancing, nubile Twi'Lek... which one can run faster from a hungry Rancor?). All of it is free, excepting the drinks and the Casinos (which are ridiculously cheap), and glittering with all the splendor possible in a luxury craft owned by one of the chinciest wealthy people on the planet.

As the first day drags on, you find yourself taking a moment of rest, or enjoyment, in a small restaurant and bar situated on the middle levels. Fewer patrons are here than anywhere else, for now, and it seems like a great place to take a rest.

The entire room is a giant fish tank, of a sort. The floors are a series of black catwalks set between massive tanks beneath the plasteel floor and walls. Brightly colored fish, made more so by use of special glowlights, from multiple worlds swim about coral reefs set beneath and around you. Entire schools of fish flit about the massive tanks under your feet, acting as entertainment and decoration all at once. The tables are plasteel as well, as is everything except the cushions on the booth seats and the exterior shell of the bar, allowing an amazing view of the fauna everywhere around you.

In one corner a corpulent Mon Calimarri sits with several incredibly made-up Twi'Lek, er, hostesses to either side of him. He points around the room at the various fish, ordering an R2 unit waiter to bring more and more of them to add to the already huge pile of dishes on the table.
That one's the best, no *that* one. And three more of those... Hey Pinky, try some of the Ameobian sting-frills. he says to one of his companions.
Ew, no. Fish make my mouth tingle.
That's what she said! Bwa-hahahaha! he laughs, banging his fin-like fist on the table. The other girls take a minute to puzzle out what he meant, then give up and just giggle like it's funny.
The R2 unit whistles something distainful-sounding before disappearing behind the bar to fill the order.

A party of Ugnauts bobs up and down at their own table. Otherwise the restaurant is empty but for a collection of patrons from various backgrounds...

Hunched shyly over a plasteel table, a gangly, middle-aged human in a mechanic's jumpsuit sips blue milk through a straw. He has a hand-held device opened up on the table, alternately testing its voltage and soldering components together with tools connected to an R2 unit on the floor next to him.

"Sklag-stabberin', nurf-stuffing thing!" he mutters. Frustrated, he pounds his fist on the table--knocking over his glass of milk, which splashes on another patron passing by.

[sblock="OOC"]
Thereby setting up a convenient way of getting a shy character to interact with the next post. :)

Narratively speaking, Galen Malek is the classic "unluckily lucky" character. He's the quiet fellow who, through no fault of his own, winds up getting into all kinds of trouble. When he bumps into a stranger on the street, it's always a big, burly thug with a chip on his shoulder. When he drops his wrench from the catwalk, it always falls on the visiting ambassador. In TVTropes terms, he's the Butt Monkey, or The Chew Toy. He suffers, and we laugh, but everything seems to come out okay for him in the end (hence the Fool's Luck talent).

Therefore, he should definitely have the quarters next to the boiler room that smell like a wet Wookiee's armpit.

*Oops! Just changed my signature, but it looks like it's not retroactive. Next post, I suppose?*

Kered walks into the dining area. He brown cloak was wrapped around him, mostly to hide his lightsaber. He was very conscious of someone trying to steal the gift from his master. He removed his hood, revealing closely cut black hair with the traditional padawan braid, although Master Skywalker had advised against it. It was a lost tradition, one that Kered felt like should be renewed.

Kered found a comfortable seat next to Malek, "Calm yourself my friend. Patience will prove to be quicker than frustration."

"Oh! Uh... hi there! Name's Malek. Galen Malek. And this little guy here's R2-P5--a droid I built. I'm just tryin' to get this conflastigated re-coupled tripunctual vocabulator goin'.

"Say, you're not one of those Jedi, are you?" he asks jokingly, gesturing to Kered's robes.

Kered smiles, "Nice to meet you Galen. I am Kered Rinos." Kered smiles when the man asks if he is a jedi, but pointedly ignores the question.

"It takes some talent to built a droid, and your R2 unit is a very nice one. You must have considerable skill."

"Thanks! He's still a work in progress, but he's a big help aboard a starship. Why, I remember one time, back after we had to skip out of Hoth, and we took some pretty heavy fire off the Imps. Well, this unit here had only had his Mechs chip installed a week before, but we had a nasty burnout and had to send him to re-couple the power converters from the reactor core. And I'll be a jumped-up Corellian dirt farmer if he didn't pull through! We'da been Bantha fodder for sure, if it were for R2 here."

"000001110110111111011011111101111!" exclaims the R2 unit.

"How is that my fault? You saw how bad they fried our impulse drives; don't go blamin' me for stranding us in this system!"

"Anyway," he says, turning back to Kered, "We're sort of feeling out our options here on Lorba's cruiser, seein' if there's any kind of work for a spacer around these parts. Say, you haven't heard about anything opening up around here, have you?"

Kered shook his head, "I too am looking for employment. It would appear that jobs are scarce. I have faith that something will come along however."

As the young human female walked into the dining room, a few heads turned. Her flame-colored hair highly contrasting the black clothes and duster she normally wears. She walks with an air of confidence which projects that she knows exactly where she is going.

She does not slow down even for a minute, until she sees him. The brown robe could not hide the waves of energy around him. Fear and dread cross her face for an instant, before the practiced aura of calm and confidence settled over her again.

She slowly backs up a few steps and moves towards the counter of the bar. She calmly asks for a Rising Nova as the Bix bartender leans towards her.

'He couldn't have followed me here', she thought to herself. 'I have changed so many ships, that I am halfway lost myself.' Yet, she could not deny what was in front of her eyes. She looked at him again, and the ever swirling colors of blue and turquoise that surrounded him. Every sense was telling her to run, but her mind was in control. 'Better to not cause a commotion, maybe he will not notice me. I might be able to slip out and find another ship.'

Kered smiles as he sees the lady enter the room. He noted that she had noticed him, moreso, that she seemed afraid of him. "Please pardon me for a moment Galen." The young jedi rose and approached the female.

He sits next to her at the bar, "Pardon me milady, I am Kered Rinos. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to why you appear shaken?"

As he gets up to approach, she takes a good look at his face. 'It's not him.' Relief covers her face for a second, then she notices him approach, coming straight for her. Her mind clamps down on her emotions, as a well practiced look of nonchalance comes over her face.

"I am sorry to cause you concern. I am just tired from a long trip on the Stellar Envoy.", she slowly sips on the drink that the Bix bartender brings. "Can, I buy you a drink?", as she turns back towards the bartender.
