I have all the Arslan tapes at home. I'm only missing the last episode which, to my knowledge, is not out yet.

Great series though

Hakkenden, well, if I got my online name from it, you can guess what I think of it

CHK was, IMHO, a cheap knock-off of the original RoLW. Mostly the same things happen, with different monsters, and more filler material. The cutesy omake were funny, but didn't add much.

Oh yeah, and the animation in the original series was usually better.

As for Crystania, what I saw of it wasn't that great. YMMV.

I would say that for low-fantasy, Miyazaki's stuff is pretty great. But then I'm a huge fan of his stuff.

I much preferred the epic feel of CHK then the more low level original. The characters could do much good, and it didn't feel like(And this is a problem with many fantasy series of old) level one characters were trying to save the world almost alone against overwhelming odds.
