What's really fun is when that water elemental smashes PCs against the shards, threatening to tear their magical dive suits.

My players FLIPPED OUT when this happened. It was great fun.

They still use those things every now and again. The ranger swam something like 10 miles underwater (after walking for two days non-stop) one time to warn a city of an invasion fleet. It was the stuff legends are made of.
