[LPF] Pirate Treasure

Qalabash wipes water vapor and sweat from his brow with his sleeve and glances around at the piles of broken crates and supplies that they’ve managed to stack up. ”Not exactly pirate treasure, eh?” He is about to say more when singing catches his attention. His expression is rapt for the briefest of moments then he shakes his head, curses, and snatches up his quarterstaff from where he had leaned it against a crate while he worked.

”Vile seductresses!”

Tamarie the Songweaver
When the singing begins, Tamarie seems lulled by it, nodding to the music as the foul creatures weave their magic. Just as it seems she might go under the spell, her head stops bobbing and her eyes narrow. "Foul song," she whispers under her breath, and immediately begins her own Celestial song. True to her profession, the songweaver traces out the double-headed axe of Rogar in the air. With a wave and a flourish of her hand, the fiery drawing gradually compacts. Upon completion of the song, Tamarie touches Qalabash's upper arm with two fingers, and the sigil affixes itself where she touched, continuing to glow as if in the fires of creation.

Seeing the determined look in Qalabash's eye, Tamarie nods. "Shall we?"

[sblock=combat stuff]The enchantment bonus is then just enough to give Tamarie the save.

Crue sees the three humanoid creatures appear and immediately identifies them as Harpies however that knowledge does not prevent the effects of their singing as he falls to the lure of the magic in their song.
"How fascinating music to welcome us." The gnome is clearly captivated by their singing.

The "ladies" descend rapidly, and one of them moves down the beach, pulling Cruendithas and Wahyu in her direction farther down the beach with her singing. One of the other ones, who is larger and is wearing actual armor and wielding a scimitar, does a flyby attack on Tamarie screeching loudly as she stops singing; the blow connects solidly dealing 6 points of damage to the sorceress. The other smaller one makes a similar atttack run on Qalabash and a claw rakes across Qalabash's face, dealing 5 damage.

[sblock=map]There isn't a formal map for this. You're on a rocky beach that at this spot ranges from 20-30' wide with a large rock rising sharply on one side and the lowering tide of the ocean on the other. One of the harpies has drawn Cruendithas and Wahyu away from the rest of the group about 50' down the beach. The other two harpies are circling above the larger group of PCs more or less just out of melee weapon reach.[/sblock]

Tamarie 16/22 (13,11,13)
Wahyu 44/44 (19,17,13) captivated

Captivated: A victim under the effects of the captivating song moves toward the harpy using the most direct means available. If the path leads them into a dangerous area such as through fire or off a cliff, that creature receives a second saving throw to end the effect before moving into peril. Captivated creatures can take no actions other than to defend themselves. A victim within 5 feet of the harpy simply stands and offers no resistance to the harpy's attacks.

OOC: The party is up. Anyone with a weapon out may attempt an attack of opportunity on either of the two attacking harpies. Cruendithas and Wahyu stand listening to the pretty music of the third harpy unless someone forces her to stop singing, at which point, they can get another Will save to immediately snap out of it.

Qalabash Baram

Qalabash glanced at Tamarie in surprise when she marked him with some sort of magic sigil. It wasn’t one he had learned before but he could feel the effects as his muscles hardened and his body grew stronger. He nodded in response to her question.

”Yes, we shall.”

As the harpies drew Cruendithas and Wahyu down the beach Qalabash tried to follow and called out. ”Stay close, friends! Do not let them separate us!”

One of the harpies swooped down and clawed his face, luckily missing his eye. Qalabash yelled and reflexively swiped at the creature with his quarterstaff. Once it passed he fumbled at his belt with one hand and drew forth a wand that he activated. A momentary shimmer proclaimed the existance of a magical shield before Qalabash held the wand out to Tamarie. It balanced on the ends of his fingers, barely held, as Qalabash began retracting his hand to clutch his staff again.

”Use it, Tamarie! Dunkel? How are we, my new companion in battle?” Though he spoke to his companions his eyes remained trained on the harpies above. Once both hands are back on his quarterstaff he spent the briefest of moments to flood his weapon with magical energy.

The Spotted Beast cowered at Qalabash's feet and hissed up at the flying creatures.

Dunkel quickly tells Qalabash, "I really don't have much of a plan except hit them hard in the face." Thus saying, he attempts an attack of opportunity on the harpy Qalabash is attacking. He then follows it up with a backhand swing at that same creature.
