Magic Item Help

Can a sorcerer use a magic item that has healing spells in it like a wand or staff? If he can, then where does it say that in the DMG because my DM wants me to prove it.

If it's not on the sorcerer's spell list, no, he can't. There aren't any healing spells on the sorcerer's default spell list.

The section you're looking for is "Using Spell Trigger Items" on DMG p175.

However, as AEthyrfyre points out, it does not support your case.
