Magic Item: Soul of Snow

Soul of Snow
Wondrous Item, ?
This 3in ice crystal has a tiny burning flame ins its center. The ice never melt either from the inside or outside, and is only mildly cold to the touch. When you place this into a pile of snow or shaved ice, you may perform a 1 hour ritual and a 1ft tall golem will form around the crystal and will turn to look like a flesh and blood creature. It is humanoid, but you can choose its features and general personality. It is friendly and loyal to you and obeys any commands you give it. It does have a personality, and behaves like a normal creature, though it never loses loyalty to you.
Use the statistics for the homunculus in the monster manual except a speed of 30ft, no fly speed, it can speak and understand any languages you know, remove the telepathic bond ability, but it does always know what direction you are (this does not innately tell it how to get to you, it may know you are on the other side of a wall, but no idea what way or if there is a way around it). It lasts until it drops to 0 hit points, or until you dismiss it as an action. You may use the soul of snow to recreate it any number of times, and may make any changes you wish to its features or basic changes to its personality.
If you use this as part of a simulacrum spell along with an additional gem of any type worth at least 1000gp, the soul of snow becomes infused with the simulacrum, and the gem begins to glow and pulse slightly though remains separate from the simulacrum. This grants a few new benefits:

  • If the simulacrum has expended spell slots, another creature with available spell slots may perform a 24 hour ritual with the gem to restore one spell slot for the simulacrum. The spell slot may be any level that matches a used slot by the simulacrum, and doing so expends the slot for the creature performing the ritual. They also gain a level of exhaustion on top of any effects from missing a long rest.
  • Creating a simulacrum with the soul of snow does not destroy other simulacrums you have created, nor does creating another simulacrum destroy one made with the soul of snow.
  • The gem has AC 25 and 5 hit points, and is immune to non-magical, poison, and psychic damage. If it is destroyed, the simulacrum is instantly destroyed, though the soul of snow may still be recovered.

I'm actually planning to split this into two items: one for the small golem, the other a way anyone can make a simulacrum without needing to be a wizard (but still needs a level 7 spell slot). Though I am struggling what to call which.

Ideas? Critiques?

Soul of Snow, Greater
Wondrous Item, very rare
With the greater soul of snow, a gem of any type worth at least 1000gp, and the normal components of the simulacrum spell, you may expend a 7th level spell slot to create a simulacrum as though casting the simulacrum spell. The greater soul of snow becomes infused with the simulacrum, and the gem begins to glow and pulse slightly though remains separate from the simulacrum. This simulacrum may exist even if you create additional simulacrums using other methods.
The gem has AC 25 and 5 hit points, and is immune to non-magical, poison, and psychic damage. If it is destroyed, the simulacrum is instantly destroyed, though the greater soul of snow may still be recovered.

Calling it the greater soul of snow just doesnt have a very good ring to it...
