Appearance: Dawn is tall and lithe, with long brown hair that is usually bound into a braid. She has blue eyes, though the shade depends on her mood. Her clothing is stylish but functional; she avoids wearing cloaks, preferring tight fitting clothing that does not impede movement.

Personality: Clearly, Dawn is the diplomat of the duo. She is pleasant and quick with a smile or a kind word, though she is a bit shy. She is easy going, rarely becoming angry. However, when she does become angry, her temper is something to be feared.

Background: Dawn was orphaned at a very young age, and was forced to take to the streets, stealing what she could to survive. As soon as she was old enough, she became a soldier; the pay was decent, and she was given three square meals a day.

However, the life of a soldier proved to be much too structured for Dawn’s liking. She quit the military, and joined an adventuring group where she met her best friend, Crimson. They traveled with the party for a short period of time, and when the group disbanded, they began their careers as bounty hunters.

Their first mission ended in battle with an evil wizard who refused to surrender quietly. Dawn was attempting to land the killing blow with her rapier, causing the wizard the make a mistake in his spell casting. The spell caused an explosion that rocked the building, killing the wizard and knocking Dawn into a daze. When she awoke a few days later, she was amazed to find that she had a limited degree of communication with her sword!

Life as a bondblade and a bounty hunter has been very good for Dawn. She has found that Shalla, Aurora and herself make an excellent trio!

Appearance: Tul stands a little taller than the average wood elf, but it is his physique that truly sets him apart - he has a wrestler's build, corded with heavy muscle that makes him look shorter than he really is. Red hair, loose about his shoulders, shines coppery in the sunlight. He has an easy smile, though his elvish good looks are somewhat marred by a nose broken repeatedly over the years, now set crooked and rather flatter than it once was.

Years of conditioning and outdoor living have toughened his feet, and he is inured to the discomforts of heat or cold; accordingly, Tul doesn't bother with boots, or protective clothing. A short kilt of flax pays lip service to modesty; otherwise, he has little use for material possessions.

Personality: After years of rigid discipline and routine, Tul has rediscovered his heritage - the joy of impulsiveness and spontaneity. Sylindria completed something missing from his soul, and taught him to laugh again, and these days that laughter is rarely far from his lips.

Tul tends to be decisive, and acts with complete conviction once he chooses a course. His enthusiasm has, on the odd occasion, gotten him into trouble, but he is generally not so foolish as to place himself in unnecessary danger.

Tul takes his role as a protector of the forest very seriously, and has no tolerance for those who would bring evil within its bounds.

Background: Tul has no direct knowledge of his parentage - he suspects his parents are dead, though on occasion he has fretted that perhaps they simply abandoned him. The monks refused to tell him - "Let the past be the past" is a phrase ingrained on Tul's consciousness. Regardless, his earliest memories are of the monastery.

Several decades, Tul spent in the care of the monks. Looking back, he sees many things about the order of which he approves. The basic values and virtues the monks considered paramount - honesty, compassion, thrift, humility, and the like - are all things that Tul sees as well and good. But their attitudes - attitudes they tried for years to impose upon a young wood elf - bothered him. Everything was ordered, and rigid, and disciplined. Laughter and frivolity were discouraged. And one fundamental internal contradiction, Tul could never fathom - how could love in the abstract and general be the ultimate expression of goodness, but love in the specific and concrete be considered inappropriate?

Nevertheless, for the sake of his teachers - his family - Tul tried to fit into the role allotted to him. 'Right' came easily to him - the monks had succeeded in raising a pure soul. But the individual in him chafed against the arbitrary rules - 'proper' was not nearly so natural a state for the young elf.

And then, on a meditative retreat to the forest, Tul met Sylindria, and everything changed. "Do what you *feel* is right," the dryad told him, and it made so much more sense than the codes and laws and rules the monks put so much faith in.

Naturally, they told him she was wrong, and that what he shared with her was wrong, and that he must give her up. But Sylindria had touched his heart, and he refused to cast her from his life. And so, his vow of obedience in tatters, and his family lost to him, he returned to the forest to live with his love.

In time, Sylindria introduced him to others, her friends in the forest, and showed him some of the small gods who hold sway and protect the inhabitants. It was observing these protectors that finally showed Tul what he'd been looking for - they provided their beneficience where it was needed, unfettered by arbitrary and meaningless restrictions. It is to these protectors that Tul has sworn his fealty, and now he roams the forest, keeping it free of whatever evils may encroach...
