2 subjects again this week, if you don't like the first one scroll down, the second might meet your fancy...

What to wear, what to wear..

So, you got your masterwork dagger, your lockpicks and a mule. Don’t you think you should have a purse and maybe some shoes that show how important you are? And surely you aren’t going out of the house without a hat!

How to make yourself look good, without verging into vanity, pr being mistaken for a lady of the evening- http://www.ceu.hu/medstud/manual/SRM/costumes.htm

A pouch or purse to carry that looted gold in will definitely help- http://www.briaca.com/art/pouches.html

And maybe a sweetbag, for when, you know, the dwarf, and his….emissions- http://www.bellomarisco.com/sweetbag.php

Now, carefully choose some gloves..Mittens, 3 finger gloves, or something fancier that will let the ladies know that you didn’t just survive, you made it out with the loot!- http://flash.lakeheadu.ca/~kmerkley/gloves.htm

More gloves- http://www.employees.org/~cathy/gloves_body.html

Maybe a fan? I bet a bright adventurer like you could hide a weapon in thiese, or maybe even use it as a weapon! http://www.ladydianottos.com/costumin.htm

In case you need an mage for your purse (wouldn’t it be terrible if the other players didn’t know how pretty your purse was!) http://geocities.com/karen_larsdatter/pouches.htm

In case you are a lady invited to a formal ball ( or a thief disguising yourself to get into the ball!) here are some beautiful period dresses- http://pages.infinit.net/cadieux3/

And, of course, you will need hosiery, you just don’t feel like a real man without some hosiery- http://renaissancedancewear.com/hosiery.html

And when you tell the DM about your backpack, remember it probably looked more like this than the one you personally hiked the Great Divide with- http://www.missouri.edu/~rls555/SCA/research/gokbkpk/gokbkpk.htm

And finally, a huge wrap=up link page for costumers, cause that’s what you are- http://www.virtue.to/articles/

The poor, underrated bard. The single most effective and interesting character I have seen played to date in 3E was a bard, and I think a lot of folks just don’t get them. I am going to try and provide some info to make your bard a better bard, or at least a more thoroughly thought out bard. J

First, let’s choose a name, Bard, minstrel and troubadour are defined below so that you may choose the one that fits your fancy.

A definition of a bard- http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/2662/bards.html

And a minstrel- http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/2662/mins.html

And a troubadour- http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/2662/troub.html

Here is a great description of “greedy, half-starved reprobates who traveled light with threadbare cloaks and a few staves of Latin verse as their only baggage.” Now THAT sounds like a character! http://www.auburn.edu/~downejm/sp/rabfw/vagabond.htm

This guy says you don’t really even need an instrument- http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/articles/troubadours.and.instruments.html

A nice article here on Troubadours, and all they can be- http://ubmail.ubalt.edu/~pfitz/play/ref/troubdrs.htm

Here is a list of MANY poems by artists of the times, they are all in French, but the web is full of free translators, right? http://www.areacom.it/arte_cultura/duke/troub.htm

“ The root verbs "trobar" and "trouver" mean "to find" or "to invent" and this gentleman tells us of the spanning influence of French musicians- http://spectrum.troyst.edu/~jinright/tcontents.htm

Pc- Let's not be biased. In the 21st century anyone can be a fop! :p

KB9JMQ- Yeah, I have never liked the all-purpose-WWI look of the packs in the books I see. I think they can be cooler and have many, many cool features. Plus, I like personalization in a character.

Wombat- We have to stop meeting like this!

Great stuff, thx :)

I do think the example of the sweetbag looks like paladin's and paladin' wife Dice bags :)
