The so-called Moongates are portals of great power which were created by the mrrengar a long time ago, before their god vanished in the Clash of Immortals. These gateways are spread all over the continent and allow instant travel from one to the other.
When the light of the moon goddess Sherrna shines on them, the portals glow and sparkle like bright opals. Otherwise, they are of a dull color adapted to the environment, so someone not knowing where to look would have a hard time finding them. When the light of the moon is upon a gate, it can bring you any real place you can picture in your mind. This includes some other planes, although it is not known why some planes are easy to reach, for some only a few key places work and others aren't accessible at all.
The gates are operated by magic or psionic abilities, although it is said all mrrengar can always use them. Then again, supposedly all mrrengar are somewhat psionic. To operate a moongate, you will need to know the name of the gate you are traveling to. The gate names are written in an ancient mrrrengar dialect on the arches. Any spell to read a foreign or magic language will work to learn the names.
