Recently was running a game with a mixed group of fairly experienced and new players. One of the new players bought a sheep, who we called Land Cloud, so she could have wool for her illusion spells. This whole damn campaign we have this sheep with us. We camp for the night in a protective arrangement around the sheep. There's multiple jokes about how one person paints her hooves while another just keeps pulling clumps of wool off as needed. After going through dungeons we wash the sheep to get the gore off it. Har, har har. Well we're all in this dungeon and the rogue was drowned in a gelatinous cube just an hour previous. We decide to push into the very last chamber. I had a fairly competent bard (imagine that, right?) who took the lock pick tools off the rogue's body. She excels at opening a chest in the final chamber but no one thinks to check it for traps.
Entire party burned to a crisp.
Funniest part was when the DM Deus Ex Machina'd us back from the dead. Hoof prints in the soot lead out of the chamber, pass a live otyugh, then found a scrap of wool 30 ft up by the entrance to a shaft in the middle of the ceiling. ALL HAIL LAND CLOUD!
