Multi-classing?

ok, this is going to be my first attempt at multiclassing. and I have a question, how does the b.a work? do you add both classes b.a together? like if you have a b.a of +6/+1 from the first class, and +6/+1 from the second one. does it end up as +12/+2?

Not quite. BAB is really just one number. The numbers after the slash indicate your iterative attacks, but they are always steps of five down from the max. You ignore them when you're adding levels together.

If you have BAB +6 from six levels in Fighter, and BAB +6 from six levels in Barbarian, you have a total BAB of +12. This is also written as +12/+7/+2, to show that you have three attacks in total.

This is correct. It is sometimes helpful for beginning multiclass players to try and build it level by level. Assume for a moment you take six levels of fighter, then 6 levels of barbarian. You'ld get this:

Code:
Level BAB
Level 1 +1
Level 2 +2
Level 3 +3
Level 4 +4
Level 5 +5
Level 6 +6/+1
Level 7 +7/+2 - 1st level of Barbarian
Level 8 +8/+3
Level 9 +9/+4
Level 10 +10/+5
Level 11 +11/+6/+1
Level 12 +12/+7/+2

When you build it level by level, you realize that it isn't much different than adding a level of the previous class. It gets somewhat more complex when you start adding levels of different BAB (say fighter and cleric). But after a few minutes, this too will seem like old hat.
