Nerfed spells as prestige class fodder

So I had this stupid idea for a prestige class called "Magic-Users of the Pointy Hat". The idea was that it would be one of those +1 spellcaster classes for arcane types, with class abilities that mimic spells from earlier editions that have been nerfed in later versions of D&D. For example, the first level special ability could be a sleep spell with no saving throw, as a 1/day ability. A higher level MU of the Pointy Hat might get a lightning bolt that rebounds, possibly doing multiple damage against a single foe, or an old-fashion volume-filling fireball. Or Fly with a lengthy duration.

What other MU spells would be cool to see resurrected this way?

Rules Cyclopedia D&D 'Floating Disk'

Allways stays within a few feet of you, no speed limit, always at level with your middle.

You won't believe what kind of tricks you can pull off with that!

(example: cast floating disk, cast fly, place rogue on floating disk, fly around with rogue shooting arrows at targets on ground....)

How about haste with the aging effect?

Or the death + 1d4 version of harm?

I doubt you could balance it, but it would be amusing.
