I have been excited about and supportive of the Book of Erotic Fantasy since the day the news was announced (yes, even with that less-than-stellar press release). I have spent a great deal of time over the past few months at the Valar Project website ( www.valarproject.com ) and the more I have learned about it, the more I've been looking forward to a good product. I have yet to get the printed preview, but there have been nearly-weekly previews posted at the Valar site. It looks like a quality suppliment. And the increasing number of good reviews (including two mostly-positive ones here at EN World, if I'm not mistaken) certainly don't hurt either.

From what I've seen and read so far the BoEF will be a good addition to our suppliment collection and I look forward to getting it. It will help out in numerous game situations in the campaigns I play in. I really like what I've seen of the art - and I normally don't care for photo manips, but these are beautifully done.

For "replusive" art, look at some of the images in the Monster Manuals. Some of the creatures in those books are far more disturbing than the goblin fertility goddess or fallen seraphim, IMO.

I placed my pre-order for the BoEF a couple of months ago and I eagerly await the day UPS delivers it, with more eagerness than I awaited the 3.5 core books.

I’ll wait for a review by ENworld folks and not deviate from my norm. Also theirs way to much good stuff out their that I don’t have that I doubt this book will ever end up on my shelf… I will admit that I’m opening minded enough to think about something like this in my campaigns but I doubt I’m brave enough to suggest it as I'm quite happy with the "fade to black" approach.

Anyhow, I eager wait for Psion's review on this product as I can see a slam dunk on the horizon with more authority than an in shape Shaquille O'Neal facializes some poor fool half his size. :D

I'm a little confused...the review was very effusive over how great the project is, but it doesn't say much about what's in the book. How is this going to improve my games in a way that on-the-fly GMing can't handle?

I managed to check out the website on this. God, what a joke. It's like a bunch of gamers decided to become swingers...a chilling thought if there ever was one. It's as embarassing as Bill Willingham's Ironwood. And Photoshop has come a long way from the illustrations that are being used in this book. Looks like they came from an earlier-'90s cheese-fest like Immortal. If I want quality erotic photography, I'll get out my copy of Romain Slocombe's City of the Broken Dolls, not some gaming material  Sheesh.

Being lawful entails obeying and respecting the laws and customs of your society.

So an upstanding member of a Chaotic Evil society is in fact Lawful Good?

I don't think so.

I'm disgusted. Completly.
I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer.
No, not because of the BOEF.

I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer because of the reception you're giving this book.

After all the insults and comments gamers have had to go through, after all the hardship, getting picked on, being punished, not being alowed to play. After always being singled out as diffrent.

Gamers, IMO, have always been the most accepting group of people. No matter the race or creed or ethnicity. If you were a good roleplayer everyone saw past all that and there were always friends to be found in other gamers.

Now look at yourselves. You're attacking the BOEF the same way all those "religious moms" and advocacy groups attacked D&D.

I playtested the BOEF. I read it from cover to cover.
The mechanical rules are, for the post part, sound and balanced. The flavor text is intresting and thematic. The photography manipulation is incredible and quite alluring to look at. Its Art. Its not disgusting, its not porn.

How many games have you been in where you got a barmaid pregnant or wanted to get drunk for a night of revelry? How many games have you played where a succubus tried to charm or seduce you? How many games have you played where you had a family or someone you loved to defend?

I think you'd all be lying if you said none. The BOEF provides rules and mechanics for situations that arise from such themes in your games. Its not graphic or disgusting in anyway.

How dare you judge this book before you've even picked it up to read it based on a few pictures? How many of you have looked over the previews in detail or honestly thought about how some of the ideas fit into your games?

How many of you are mature enough to handle the material and understand that its not just a big joke or gag or softcore porn game.

I have never been so throuroughly disgusted by my fellow gamers before. Not in the 7 years I've been gaming.

For shame on all of you for judging. For shame for attacking. For shame on becoming that which we all hate and fight against.

I silence myself now out of respect for the granny. Even she could look upon the shelf of her adult grandson or grandaughter and respect the fact that its there.
