Not happy with Wizard's lack of fluff.

Dude.

Kids play this game, and are part of the target demographic. And when you combine 'kids' and 'more sex' into anything even slightly geeky, 'mature' and 'adult' is hardly the expected result.

Even when it is adults it frequently works out absolutely horribly. I like to kill things and take their stuff and read about ideas on how to set up killing things and take their stuff. If I wanted bad fantasy porn, there are tons of terrible sources for that sort of rubbish already.

The only lack of fluff that I'm really annoyed about is the lack of descriptions for monsters. In MM3 we get some fluff (finally), but it's still lacking the physical descriptions. I know we get colour art for nearly every creature in the book, but sometimes the art is just not good enough.

Regards.

I've never really understood the violence is okay but sex isn't thing.
I think this is definitely culture-dependent. Imho, that's only true in the US. In Europe (or more specifically Germany) it's the other way around.

Noone bats an eye at (soft) sex over here. Just watch any of the daily early afternoon soaps. However, e.g. violent video games have often been released in a different version for the European market: They replace living beings with robots and blood with 'oil'.

It's most often the depiction of violence that determines a movie's rating, not sex scenes. A lot also depends on the movie's treatment of both.

Still, I don't think D&D needs more sex _or_ violence.

I guess this is a rant, but I am getting a little tired of the "come up with the rest yourself" theme that 4th edition as taken on. Sure I like to come up with my own stuff, but there are times when I like to take what a great author has envisioned and take that and sometimes change it around to fit a personal agenda, or to sometimes use it as is.

I've always preferred the "holes in the story" style myself. White Wolf was always king of this for me... I never fail to come away from reading a White Wolf book without having a billion ideas for an adventure in my head.

I like a good story, don't get me wrong- But a fully fleshed out story tends to do less for my own creativity then the above.

What I'm saying is that attempts to 'mature' a roleplaying game/comic/video game/movie/any media really through sexual content or explanations of sexuality, usually ends up being asanine and immature, especially when it falls in the hands of your average 14 year old boy.

I didn't say that Wizards' decision wasn't understandable. You've actually done a good job of demonstrating the difficulties of discussing sex and gaming.

The discussion was about the amount of backstory that Wizards has provided about Tieflings. I realize that its doubtful that we'll ever see any published material about the sexed up Tieflings, official or otherwise. My point is only that this is a topic to be considered for your own campaigns.
