Hang on, a zealot servant of Wee Jas who... focuses against undead ??

Isn't that a bit like a Forsaker priest of Boccob, a servant of Ehlonna/Mielikki who chops down forests or a follower of Pelor who wants to turn off the sun?

No.

Wee Jas is the Goddess of Magic and Death. She protects the dead. She is not the Goddess of Undead. Wee Jas is against the undead.

A Paladin of Wee Jas, or any worshiper of Wee Jas, would not be a supporter of the undead.

This seems incredibly wrong. The section in the PHB says "She counts many powerful wizards and sorcerors(especially necromancers) amongst her followers."

I dont know about your necromancers, but mine traditionally raise undead, not destroy them.

Well it is very regimented. Necromancers need her permission to raise specific undead (or, I suppose, to be raised as undead), and chaotic undead are verbotten.

Thats how I read it. Thats also why I thought Bone Knight would be cool, a servant being granted undead as tools to fight with like a cleric being given spells or a fighter being given armor by an official. This PC uses licensed undead as a means to seek out and destroy that which runs counter to the teachings of his god.

In my last campaign, I had one god with the power that raising undead was not evil and the ensuing undead did not register as evil under very specific circumstances:

The targets in question had to be willing, and working in the service of their religion. In essence, 'proper' undead were like divine agents. The down side was that such undead were limited by 'service'; if you called up a bunch to dig a ditch, better carefully explain to your god why you need the spirits of your ancestors to do menial labor.

The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer
Wee Jas "promotes the utilization of spells and magic items (though many of her Suel followers insist she favors the creation of such things). She gained her death aspect when the survivors of the Rain of Colorless Fire looked to their goddess of magic for assurance that the dead were being escorted to the afterworld… Her clerics must get her permission before restoring a weak or chaotic being to life.”

Necromancy=death magic, not necessarily undead magic.

It is subject to interpretation. From "The Scarlet Brotherhood" accessory (written by Sean K. Reynolds), pages 80 and 81:
“Wee Jas oversees death and the application of magic in the world. Unlike Boccob, who oversees magic in all of Oerth, Wee Jas’ domain is the creation and usage of magic items and spells. . . [she is] Worshiped mainly by wizards (and especially necromancers) . . .[But] Note that she is a protector of the departing soul, not the body; therefore she does allow use of spells such as animate dead. She is supportive of wizards who wish to become liches...”

The most recent Dragon magazine details her religion more fully. If I remember, I'll check to see if it contradicts this.

Since religions are inherently subject to interpretation, it might be the case that:

Lawful Evil Wee Jas members are fine with undead.

Lawful Good Wee Jas members accuse the LE members of heresy and seek to destroy/rehabilitiate the LE members (inquisition).

Lawful Neutral members are neutral in the dispute. Or perhaps they favor one side over the other, anti-undead or pro-undead.

Thread on this in the general forum too.
