Oh I'm not worried about people being unpleasant. It's just the size of the crowds. It gives a claustrophobic feeling.
However, I found an explanation that PAX counts people each day[/i} (If you have a 3 day pass, they count you 3 times). So there may be 20,000 actual bodies in the building each day, but the number is bigger at total.
A friend of mine who works for a tech magazine said that most of your video game companies have booths there. Now, I'm not a huge video game person (I buy only 2-3 a year, but I am super into the ones that I do), so it does give some incentive to hassle the designers about news of upcoming games. Also movies, and panels about TV shows/movies or maybe even WRITING sounds really appealing.
