D&D 5E Personality Quiz to determine your favorite class/race/subclass

Man_Over_Game

First Post
Hey, guys! I've made a personality quiz on a spreadsheet that calculates your best class, race, and subclass to suit your playstyle.

I originally made the spreadsheet as a cheat sheet for new players, so there's a few unrelated tabs that quickly teach players how certain things work. The important tabs and components you need to pay attention are the ClassChooser, RaceChooser, and SubclassChooser tabs, and the parts the player modifies are highlighted in blue and orange.

For each question, you will input one number (highlighted in blue), with an optional second number (orange). The first number is on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the absolute of one side of the question, and 10 being the other side.

The second number is a multiplier to determine how important that distinction is. You can choose to ignore the second number, but it defaults to 1. So if you want something to be twice as important as anything else, you input 2 as the second number and you can have every other one of your answers remain the default 1.

For example, the first question to determine your Class is whether you want to be a melee combatant or a ranged one. For the first number, 1 is a strictly melee combatant, 10 is a strictly ranged combatant, 5 is a character halfway between both. How big the second number is will change how important that distinction is. For example, if you chose your first number as 5, and your multiplier as 3 (written as 5/3), you've indicated that it's 3x as important for your character to be equally as good with melee and ranged combat. However, 10/0.5 implies that you prefer very long ranged combat, but it's not that important of a distinction for what you're looking for.

You can also just choose to use 0 or N/A in any answer and it'll just omit it so that it has no impact on your end result. Otherwise, a middling answer will assume you want someone equally balanced, not ambivalence.

The subclass section is a little different, ranging between 1-5 on each question.

This had a lot of popularity in the Giant in the Playground forums (here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/show...-best-build-Wanna-try&p=23729671#post23729671), so much so that I had to resort to uploading the spreadsheet rather than providing the answers individually.

Anyway, enjoy, and ask if you guys have any questions about how it works.

(For the most part, each class/race/subclass has an ideal for each question, and the further your answer is from that class's ideal, the larger the variance is for that class/race/subclass. Sum up the variance of each individual choice, and the option with the lowest variance is the best choice).
