Poleaxe?

I was wondering why no one has mentioned that for a weapon to be considered a poleaxe it has to have a spike on both the axe head side and on the opposite side as well, as such would it be like having 4 weapons in one ie spike on top acts like a spear, axe, hammer/ or hook and a second spike on bottom. secondly it seems that most people consider the poleaxe to be the same as a halberd when in fact poleaxes where never longer than a man is tall and where considered knightly weapons around the late 15th century while halberds where rank and file infantry weapons given out to the grunts meant to be used in formations.
