This piece by Clyde Caldwell will always rank up there for me. Strahd on a ledge flanked by gargoyles. I guess it's an easy call, being the most famous depiction of him and on the cover of I6 Ravenloft.

It's hard to argue with the power of that original cover art. It pretty much tells you all you need to know, going into the module.

For my part, I'm going to go with any number of Stephen Fabian's atmospheric pieces of art.
