PrC: Firewalker (Faiths of Faerûn)

PrC: Firewalker (Faiths of Faerûn)

Find it here:

It's in the New Rules/Classes section. Feedback is very welcome. The class should be usable for any campaign world that features a major deity of fire and purification. The entry also includes one new Prestige Domain (concept from Defenders of Faith): Purification.

Here's a domain for all of you munchkins. I got this off of his page.

Purification

Deities: Kossuth
Granted Powers: You cast spells with the fire descriptor at +2 caster levels and gain a +4 resistance bonus to saves against all spells and effects with the fire descriptor.
1. Flame Dagger.* As flame blade but 1d4 +1/level.
2. Flaming Sphere. Rolling ball of fire, 2d6 damage, lasts 1 round/level.
3. Combust*. Target takes 2d6 +1/level fire damage.
4. Fireball. 1d6/level fire damage, 20-ft radius.
5. Explosive Cascade*. Bouncing flame ball deals 1d6/level fire damage.
6. Firebrand*. One 5-ft. burst/level deals 1d6/level fire damage.
7. Fire Spiders*. Swarm of Fine fire elementals attacks targets.
8. Delayed Blast Fireball. 1d8 fire damage/level; you can delay blasts for 5 round.
9. Meteor Swarm. Deals 24d6 fire damage, plus bursts.

* From Magic of Faerûn.

He he. It's a Prestige Domain - not a normal Domain so it''s supposed to be more powerful (read: Defenders of Faith) - and only Firewalkers have access to it. The point is - that the Firewalkers are extremely good at dealing fiery damage - but they are not really good at anything else. This was supposed to fit the theme of the original class in 2E Faiths and Avatars. I have been thinking of ditching Meteor Swarm - but there wasn't really any other fire spell available at 9th level.
Also - Firewalkers gain access to most of the damaging spells as a spell level 1 higher than normal.
Another way to limit the Firewalkers access to these spells - if they bother you - is to remove the "fire spells" ability , which will limit the number of these spells per day to one per level.
In any case - the Firewalker is a pretty potent priest - but he is a much worse generic Cleric than normal Clerics (and sacrifices caster levels for his powers), a less potent combat spellcaster than the sorcerer and much less utilitarian than the wizard...
Kossuth - the deity who inspired this class - is a god of Fire, Destruction and Purification, his priests like to incinerate things. The class is supposed to reflect this. Their abilities are severely hampered against creatures like Demons and anyone expecting to meet a Firewalker should be able to prepare himself pretty easily...
