Release Prelude to War and other Titles

Greetings Gamers!

We have finally released the Prelude to War adventure along with several other titles. Here is a summary of all the great new content!

Prelude to War. This 90-page introductory adventure takes the PCs from 1st to 3rd level. A mercenary company hires the PCs to conduct asymmetric warfare against the Romans ahead of the official outbreak of war. But just as in any other war, nothing goes as planned.

Prelude to War - Mature Content Add-on. The Amazons vs Valkyries setting is designed for mature audiences. This PDF contains all the mature content from Prelude to War in one place. In this way, you can play the adventure as written and have a PG-13 experience, or you can add this content to your game and make it an R-rated experience - the way it is intended.

Prelude to War VTT Assets. For gamers who like to play on a VTT, this zip file contains 47 grid-less maps and 27 tokens for all the adversaries and a few other creatures in the Prelude to War adventure.

The Smokehouse Raid. This short supplemental quest is designed for characters in the Prelude to War adventure, but can easily be adapted to any sort of military themed game. The PCs are sent to rescue some allies who have been captured and are being held in an abandoned estate in the country.

Snakes and Spiders. Back before Halloween, we released this short PDF detailing several real snakes and spiders from our own world. The spiders are enhanced to giant size. They are also hunting spiders that stalk prey, such as the tarantula and wolf spider. If you enjoyed the Poisonous Plants supplement, check this out. It is written with the same detail regarding the effects of these creatures' venom.

See below for more details about these great titles and related material.

Game System: OGL 5e
Genre: Classical Age (Greek/Norse Mythology)
Prelude to War is a Fifth Edition adventure for one to seven characters of 1st to 3rd level, and is optimized for a party of four characters with an average party level (APL) of 1. This adventure is designed for the Amazons vs Valkyries setting, but can be easily adapted to any other fantasy setting.
Time and Place: It is the spring of 1839 TA (263 BCE), on the sunny northern coast of Trinakria (ancient, mythic Sicily).
Adventure Summary: On the eve of the First Punic War, a mercenary company hires the PCs to conduct asymmetric warfare against the Romans. The PCs are dispatched to Trinakria where they join their squad in Panormus and travel to Telikos to meet a spymaster. They then infiltrate Roman territory and conduct reconnaissance and raids. After some harrowing encounters, they acquire a collection of signacula (Roman dog tags) and deal with conflict within their own ranks. They eventually return to Telikos to meet with the spymaster, but when they arrive, they find their mission is not yet over. Romans now occupy the town, the spymaster has been caught, and the PCs must recover a coded message from his apartment.
If the PCs succeed, they return to Panormous with critical information about the Romans, enabling the Carthaginians to make their next strategic move as catastrophic war looms on the horizon.

SUPPLEMENTAL CONTENT
Several supplements are available for this adventure, as shown below.

This gazetteer details the island of Trinakria at the start of the First Punic War. This book has been developed to support the campaign path, “The Blood of Trinakria,” which follows the course of the First Punic War in the Amazons vs Valkyries adventure setting. This book features six new monsters (including moss folk and Charybdis), two new diseases (malaria and sand fly fever), geography, towns, cities, art, and 800 years of mythic history.

The Amazons vs Valkyries setting is intended for adults and features nudity and mature subject matter. The adult content for Prelude to War has been separated from the core adventure material and collected into this PDF add-on. Thus you can play the adventure as written and have a PG-13 experience, or you can enhance your game with this add-on and have a more adult oriented, R-rated gaming experience. Within this file are modifications to four existing encounters and details for three new encounters. These encounters are designed for the Prelude to War adventure, but can easily be adapted to any other adventure.

This short adventure can serve as a stand alone side-trek for nearly any adventuring party of 1st - 4th level, but it is designed for characters in the Prelude to War adventure. The characters stumble upon (or are sent to) an abandoned estate in the country where a group of canocephite mercenaries working with Rome are holding some allied POWs. It seems like a straight forward operation, but the tactical challenges are significant with the canocephites using dogs, delay tactics, flanking, darkness, traps, and hostages to thwart the PCs.

The Manticore's Den
This short adventure can serve as a stand alone side-trek for nearly any adventuring party of 1st - 4th level, but it is designed for characters in the Prelude to War adventure. The characters happen upon (or are sent to find) an adolescent manticore that is attacking travelers along a mountain road. The creature is nesting in a nearby cave, high up on a cliff face and difficult to reach. Within the cave are giant insects, natural hazards that function like traps, and a pool of contaminated water containing treasure and clues from the past. The manticore is also challenging, using cover, elevation, flight, and its range weapons to defeat the PCs.

yulania-tree-2-72-6.jpg
Quest for the Yulania Tree
This short adventure can serve as a stand alone side-trek for nearly any adventuring party of 1st - 4th level, but it is designed for characters in the Prelude to War adventure. The characters are hired by a temple (or other client) who is researching cures for malaria. They need some bark of the rare Yulania Tree, which grows deep in the nearby marsh. Recovering the bark is no easy task, as dangerous plant creatures, foul weather, and a hag stand between the heroines and their goal.

Game System: OGL 5e
Genre: Fantasy and Horror
This file features seven terrifying creatures for your 5e horror campaign. Within these pages are three iconic snakes and four dreadful spiders:
Snakes: Cobras, Mambas, and Rattlesnakes are among the most venomous snakes in our world. Their venom is far worse than the 2d4 damage of typical poisonous snakes found in the Core Rules. Each of these snakes also includes a short list of other snake that carry similar venom.
Spiders: Peacock Spiders, Tarantulas, Trapdoor Spiders, and Wolf Spiders are all different types of hunting spiders. Unlike the spiders in the core rules which build webs and ensnare prey, these spiders either stalk prey like a predator, or wait in ambush. They leap upon prey from great distances, grappling their hapless victims and dragging them back to their lair.
This file also features some other interesting and disturbing options for these creatures, such as two-headed snakes, spitting snakes, spiders that walk on water, and spiders that hurl spear-like weapons.
Download this file today for just $2.49 and scare the hell out of your players tonight!

We also have two other terrifying monsters for your 5e horror game:

The Djieien is a monstrosity that looks like a spider. However, it can remove and hide its vital organs, making it much harder to kill than a typical giant spider.

By day, the manananggal appears to be a common human woman, but at night, it becomes a dreadful, demon-like thing with bat wings. It leaves its lower torso behind as it flies into the night, seeking infants to devour.
Get them each for just 99 cents!

Thanks for your interest in our projects! Don't forget to check out the Bloodstone Press website, where we have recently updated our list of upcoming projects. We have also created a new D20 5e rules site for Amazons vs Valkyries. It is small, but it has some new and exclusive content.

And Happy Holidays!
