Rapid Summoner

Evil DM

First Post
Hi folks,

I wonder about the combination of Rapid Summoning and the Master Specialist from Complete Mage.

The Master Specialist as the Path of the conjurer gains the ability that spells with a casting time of 1 standart action are treated as swift actions.
So with the Rapid Summoning all of his summoning monster spells are able to be cast as a swift action? That means two spells per round?

Second.
Is there any PrC which advances the Summoning Monster Spell? Like the psychic PrC with the Astral Construct spell from the Complete Psionics?

Cheers, Evil DM.

I´d consider that combo as pretty close to pretty much broken. Rapid Summoning itself is already far on the strong side.

I only know the Augment Summoning feat and the various Libris Mortis feats to enhance summoned monsters... and honestly, they are more than strong enough.

There's an Eberron feat which augments summoned Elementals (in Magic of Eberron).

The Malconvoker (C.Scoundrel) allows you to make Bluff checks to enhance your summoned Evil critters. It costs caster levels, but it's actually worth it.

Malconvoker is pretty neat looking. I especially like the +1 evil creature per spell cast part that you get near the high end. Still fairly sure I wouldn't take 10 levels of it rather than 10 levels of Master Specialist though. The free quickening is just too good to pass up.

Yeah, from the way Malconvoker is set up, you can tell it was intended more for clerics than wizards. It works for either, but it's more useful to clerics than to wizards. Or a better way to put it is clerics get more out of it than wizards do.

Thanks for the help folks.

I thought about the Malconvoker too because as I saw this PrC the first time with the CS in my hands I was intrigued.

But if I get you right it is not necessary to advance him fully?

The character is not for me but for one of my fellow players. She is allowed to start a charcter for CotSQ at 10th level.

So what do you say? Play a wizard 5th / malconvoker 5th? Getting the fiendish legion right from the start?
And then mix it up with a Master Specialist?

In addition to that to not only make a specialist wizard but also a focused one? From the CM.

Three times per day. The capstone Master Conjurer ability is useable three times per day.

You can't take 10 levels of Malconvoker. :)
