Rogue Positioning Strike Clarification

Question: With the Rogue's "Positioning Strike" attack, does the Artful Dodger build's Charisma modifer replace the 1 square, or get added to it? Basically do they slide [Cha] or 1+[Cha]? I understood the former, but someone in another post here has interpreted the latter; reading it now, it's even less clear. I think what I miss the most between this 4ed PHB and 3.5 is all the italicized clarifying example text.

"You slide the target a number of squares equal to your Charisma modifier."

Since there is no mention of additional or such it's just Cha mod. The lesson is don't take Artful dodger if you just have +1 cha mod.
