[Draxus the Tainted]

Is this thing a total dungeon crawl, or is there any bit of role playing involved. Me and some of the other players are sick of the hack-n-slash thats went on for awhile, with little role playing involved. We are about to start a camaign with the module placed in it, and if its just gonna be walk around, kill stuff, and get treasure, I don't know if I even want the DM to run it.

I have seen this RtTToEE for a while on these boards but what does it mean? I know it is an adventure but for what setting and what does it contain?

If you are sick of hack and slash I don't think this is the adventure for you. There are several dozens of rooms of basically nothing but monsters.

However, my DM has modified it some and is doing a very good job with allowing stuff to go on in the background. Yesterday our group played for about 6 hours before one fight took place. We were roaming around the town trying to solve a mystery. So I guess it can be made to work as more of a role-playing adventure.

It's pretty heavy on the dungeon crawl though you could probably fit some role-playing in depending on how it's run. The Freeport series has a nice mix of styles but I imagine there's a good chance you've already played through that and it might be too low a level for your group.

We haven't done anything from Freeport. And we were starting at level 1 to build up to RtTToEE.

If you're looking for role playing RtTToEE is *not* it. I repeat, NOT the module to play.

Is there a module that actually promotes an abundance of role playing?

I'm dming it at the moment and it is a huge dungeon crawl.

It really depends on the players you are working with, it can either be a kick in the door and slaughter everything in site or it can turn into an extensive subterfuge cloak and dagger story.
Although at a certain point the bodies will pile up.

In the beginning there are a lot of opportunities for role-playing but later on it slides over more to roll playing

RttToEE is mostly dungeon crawl, though there are plenty of opportunities to bluff or otherwise avoid combat, though there are quite a few opponents that will definately fight.

It's definately not a political talk-fest though; there is a lot of combat and action.

The group I'm running has been doing a lot of 'kick in the door', but they have also done some 'disguise and bluff' as well, though they sometimes forget that they're in disguise and start shooting as soon as they see an enemy.

Ooh, I love this module! I'm running it right now too (though the party's somewhat sidetracked at the moment). I have to say, there are lots of role-playing opportunities in there but most of them are things you're killing. It's great, though... the party imc actually joined the temple for a while, and helped them advance their plans... now they have to deal with the consequences!
