Rogues get 2 more expertise at 6th.
Human alternate option to "all +1s" is +1 to two stats, a skill, and a feat.
Classes provide 2 skills (4 for rogue)
Backgrounds provide 2 skills and 2 tools/languages
Each background has a random personality trait, ideal, bond, and flaw table.
# of cantrips is level-based, not stat-based.
Inspiration rules are present.
"Fantasy" armor types are gone from the equipment chapter, at least.

Happy Day: There's a large table of different types of tools separate from the regular equipment list.

Temp HP last until the end of a long rest, unless the effect specifies a duration. I don't know if that was ever spelled out before.

Something about "Gift Horses" here.
No, not about the basic set itself. The general rules. None of my earlier concerns are allayed, a few things I hoped would be fixed aren't, and stuff I liked (like Indomitable) have been brought low.

There are no strength, intelligence or charisma saving throws in Basic. I hope they made an effort for the PHB, otherwise we may as well go back to Fortitude, Reflex and Will.

Wait...is there no limit on this thief ability?



Uncanny Dodge lets you halve damage from an attacker with a reaction.
I like it. 5th level is when Fighters get their second attack, and casters get 3rd level spells. Half damage is the kind of thing the rogue needs to keep up.
