small carrying

Hi!

Why exactly can small races such as halflings or gnomes carry only three quarters of a med sized craeture with the same Str? If a human Barbarian happens to have the same Str as this giant he can carry as much!

Its alright that "small" equipment has less weight, but why can small ones carry less, wenn Str is an absolute rate in all other circumstances?

ACtually, I'd extend that carry-weight difference further. LArge cretures could carry 1/3 more than a medium creature of the same strength (that way, medium critters carry 75% as much as a large creature).

And so on.

It's either that, or we institute HARSHER penalties/bonusses to stregnth for differing sizes.

Hi!

I tend to get the other way round and and simply get rid of this rule. That would make the Str-numbers absolute again. And the -2 malus on Str of gnomes and halflings assures that they will be weaker in comparison to the bigger races.

No. Read the rules again. Big creatures can carry more. A Large creature can carry twice as much as a human with the same Strength; a Huge creature can carry 4x as much; and so on from there.

Yup, once you get a Half-ogre Barbarian, you can save the money spent on buying a Bag of holding. :D
