Sun God...with a twist. Ideas?

Here's the question for you - if its monotheism why is he a Sun God. Most monotheistic religions don't have portfolios for their deities. Its simply not needed. Why divide up divine responsibility if there's no one to divide with?
That depends greatly on when you're talking about. Take Judaism as an example. Early on, the Hebrews didn't necessarily deny the existence of other gods, but they did insist that all Hebrews worship Yahweh and Yahweh only. And at that time, Yahweh was usually described as a god of wind and fire, a war god, and that kind of thing. He had a very narrow vengeance and wreaking divine havoc portfolio for most of the early history.

Later, once they had settled down and had all the scholarly bent that eventually comes of a sedentary lifestyle, the nature of the religion changed into something like modern monotheistic religions, where one God is All things, and everybody else's gods are just demons or spirits.
