And 1e...and BECM...and B/X...not sure if they were in OD&D or not, but if they are, I betcha it's like this. Just because WotC wanted to put its stamp on D&D after taking it over, and started changing names, races, and just plain making stuff up, does not make those choices any less pitiable.

Absolutely -- I was just noting the last Monster Manual (that I knew of) that used this rather than Lizardfolk.

Focus-firing on the ogre, but I feel like both it and the troll need to drop off the bottom of the list. They should be chunky minibosses at low level, and Giant Mooks at mid levels, not cannon-fodder.
