Not that he needs the boost, but I gather the original Tomb of Horrors presented Acererak as a multi-classed cleric/magic-user. That's the only notable clerical lich I know of. While various editions have nodded to the possibility of clerical liches, none of them has done much with the idea.I'm disappointed: not a single cleric lich in the list. Not that I can actually remember any, mind.
Are there enough death knights in D&D to make a list? To come up with thirteen notable liches, I had to get pretty far into the weeds, and there are a lot more liches than death knights in D&D lore. The only death knight I can name without Googling is Lord Soth.PS early vote for Death Knights next!
Fistandantilus - 9 - This guy isn't even a lich. He used magic to prolong his life and was never undead.
Fistandantilus's status after the destruction of his body (when he tried to open the Portal and it blew up in his face) has been described in a lot of ways, but in the original "Dragons of Hope" adventure he is explicitly stated to be a demilich. As far as I'm concerned, that's good enough.Fistandantilus - 11 (-2) Not a true lich, IMO
