Version 4.2 of TableSmith is now available at http://www.mythosa.net (click "RPG Utilities"). There is a full installation package as well as an update for people running older versions.
New features include:
- Graphical Editor: Currently in a preliminary stage, and is undocumented (but supported). The purpose of the editor is to allow TableSmith users, primarily beginniners, an easier way to create tables. It doesn't inherently support all the features of TableSmith's table format, but it can handle most of the basic functionality. Of course, you're still free to use Notepad or whatever editor you already may be using.
- Generate Function: Allows you to embed a link in your results that, when clicked, will be replaced by some table or group call you have previously specified. The purpose of this function is to allow you to generate a set of results and allow elements of it to be fully generated at a later time. For example, you could have an inn generator that lists all the patrons currently staying at the inn. You may not want all their statistical information immediately, but you may want to be able to generate it on an individual basis at some point later. Using "Generate", you could list each patron's name, followed by clickable text. When that text is clicked, a table is called which generates that person's stats.
- Other Functions: Functions for formatting, versioning, and other features.
