Take 10 in Skill Challenges?

For skill challenges that takes place outside a combat encounter, the PCs are not hard-pressed or threatened so they can take their time in doing it.

So are they allowed to take 10? Will you allow it?

I only allow the pcs to take 10 in situations that I don't think will be interesting enough to roll. It happens very rarely.

If it is a skill challenge, they are hard-pressed or threatened. Otherwise, it's a non-challenge.

More specifically, the rule is they can't take 10 if they're in an encounter (see the take 10 rules in PHB). If they're in a skill challenge, they're in an encounter.

Allowing take 10 for skill challenges would have all kinds of badness.
