D&D 5E Tavern brawler, Greenflame blade, and booming blade....

So I was reading Tavern brawler and noticed the wording of the feat says the bonus action keys off of hitting with either an unarmed attack or an improvised weapon. Just hitting. Not taking the attack action.

The new melee cantrips, booming blade and Greenflame blade both would cause hits with melee weapon attacks.

If this is a correct interpretation, it could work quite nicely with characters who are focusing on the new cantrips.

The cantrips require a 'Melee attack with a weapon' which means that they can't be unarmed attacks. Improvised weapons are fine though.
