Can a character regain consciousness by receiving temporary hit points while unconscious? A sort of "Back on your feet, soldier!" kind of effect.

Temp hps are kind of a shield around the person so to speak so I would say that if they were out and were gratned temp hps it would be a shield around their body but would not get them up.

PH 294, it specifically states that "...if your current hit points are 0, you still have 0 when you receive temporary hit points..."

Nope.

Not Real Hit Points: Temporary hit points aren’t real hit points. They’re a layer of insulation that attacks have to get through before they start doing damage to you. Don’t add temporary hit points to your current hit points (if your current hit points are 0, you still have 0 when you receive temporary hit points).
