I use Obsidian. It's a kind of personal wiki/journal/library/mindmap/etc and has a gazillion plugins. (One of which is a greyhawk calendar)
The app is free* and you can use your own sync option or pay for their cloud sync. They also have an option where the synced is published to the web, which might be good for some GMs.
All the files are on-device so no issues with a cloud service going under. I use markdown format but other options exist. The app has PC and mobile flavors.
There are multiple sync options, including Dropbox (what I use). While I don't share it with players, I could see setting up a share in Dropbox that the players can access that has content viewable/editable by them.
