Barkovia's CEO, Ella Barkovia, was the subject of a very successful reality series that focused on her and her daughter, Anneliese, and their life together. It ran for eight successful seasons, and then was abruptly cancelled three years ago. Many think this has something to do with Annaliese's recent campaign to become mayor of Pendros, which she successfully won.</p><p></p><p>Thinkbest is a sleek cybernetics company, comparable to the apple of cybernetics. They also dabble in some other esoteric industries. In the areas of the city they control, crime is low and the area is free of homeless people, graffiti, and other things that don't look sleek, pretty, and smooth.</p><p></p><p>The federal government now acts only to protect its citizens from physical danger. Local government has other few other allowances, but not many. Below are two government organizations in the game.</p><p></p><p>The Pendros Police Department is a joke. Most people live in Borkovia Industries housing, and when they have a problem, they contact them, not the police. Not enough tax money goes to the department to pay their officers a decent wage, so many work for a private security force on the side. Some might say that police work is done on the side, or as charity work. Mainly, the police handle small crimes and traffic violations.</p><p></p><p>The Pendros Wildlife rangers, on the other hand, are quite efficient. As tourism is easily one of Pendros's largest draws, and one of those draws is the wilderness around the mountain city, The Pendros Wildlife Rangers find that they have plenty of money to do their job. Unlike many cities in 2034, Pendros is quite clean, and its rivers and lakes run clean. Those violating hunting, fishing, and campfire laws are severely punished.</p><p></p><p>The D.S.N.I, the Department of Supernatural Investigation, deal with Infused based crimes. Made up of Infused agents, the D.S.N.I investigates crimes that are allegedly perpetrated by other Infused, hunt down rogue and unregistered Infused, and act like SWAT teams for those situations that warrant such actions. Many have declared that D.S.N.I agents are just government sanctioned capes, but no one complains when they stop yet another threat to the world.</p><p></p><p>What follows is information that normal people would not have. However, it is widely known information to Supernatural beings.</p><p></p><p>The Vampire Queen, Sasha Fierce, came into power in 2009, and many of those who don't know of her power giggle at her name. Sasha actually has a very good sense of humor, and allows people to be frank with her, a failing of the last Vampire Ruler, Runningwater. However, almost since her rule began, she has been lax about punishing those who breach the masquerade. The Masked Council, a council of supernatural beings who represent their respective types as they vote on supernatural laws, has long blamed her inability to better enforce her own laws as the reason why more and more 'hunters', aka the 'awakened', have popped up all over the city. The head of the Masked Council, and the queen's seneschal, the Vampire Macario, has done a good job of investigating and punishing those have breached the masquerade, but hasn't made a move against the Queen, because, as he says, only during her rule has their been a general peace and tranquility amongst the supernatural beings. The one law that she does enforce strongly is that those who engage of discriminate of any kind are to be tortured, and second-time offenders killed. Sasha's heir-to-be is the rare Infused Half-Vampire Anneliese, the mayor of the city. Her grooming begun after what is only known as 'the incident', which occurred three years ago.</p><p></p><p>The Displaced are those beings from other worlds, the worlds of shadow. When they come over, Department 7 of the Hoffman Institute is always there to find them and help make their transition easier. Agents of D-7 act in two capacities: They hunt down and neutralize shadow threats, and they also make sure that sentient new arrivals are able to integrate with their new home.</p><p></p><p>The city's true protectors are the Gargoyles, Werewolves, and Kappa. The gargoyles of Pendros protect the city at night, stopping crimes in progress and destroying the dens of monsters, no matter where that threat originates from. The werewolves protect, patrol, and balance the supernatural side of Pendros, making sure it doesn't threaten the mortal realm, and vice versa. A mountain city in the Rocky Mountains known for it's Casinos, Night Clubs, Wilderness recreation, and it's University. To the world at large, it is also the home to two Mega-Corporations, Barkovia Industries and Thinkbest. But this city has an underside, one that no normal person, the mundanes, suspects. You see, Pendros is a hub for the supernatural world as well. It's people are ruled by the Vampire Queen Sasha, and the 'Masked Council'. Only those who know the truth of the world, that vampires and werewolves are real, can see the world for what it is. Creatures from other worlds, the worlds of shadow, live alongside everyday citizens. Ogres, Monsters, Medusa...they walk the same streets, eat the same foods, even go to the same schools and stores. But the shadow hides them. Ogres are seen as tall men, Monsters as wild animals, Medusa as women with dreadlocks...but you...</p><p></p><p>You know the truth. Sometimes you see past the masquerade.
