Following the wizard's directions, the party climbs the hill where they can clearly see they are at the base of the Stonespike Mountains. Furthermore, looking down they can make out the edge of the hole below the overhang. Carefully proceeding down the hill, the party halts about 300' away from the edge when they are better able to see. The entrance is roughly 15' high and 20' wide.

Charlarn of Phyrah: male human cleric 7/ranger 2

Charlarn says, "Hold on. Let me check to see if anyone else has been here recently." He hooks Goruksblain onto his belt and kneels down to look at the ground for tracks.

Tenebrynn waits patiently. His staff is in his hands and he looks out across the mountains enjoying the sight before what he assumes to be a long trek back underground for a while. Having chased that shard all across the countryside he found himself really enjoying the freedom and openness of the outdoors.

[sblock=Charlarn]Its rocky terrain and has started to drizzle, so its not the best tracking conditions, but you do find something. But its kind of confusing.

Something(s) have been here within the past day or two. First off, you find signs that something has been slithering around in the area. Signs similar to what you would expect a snake to leave, only much, much bigger. [As in, it fits in the huge catagory]

You also find other tracks of several clawed feet. Either multiple creatures or one very large one with many legs.

The tracks appear to lead toward or away from the cave entrance.

You don't find anything else of significance.[/sblock]

Planus keeps his eyes toward the cave while Charlarn surveys the ground. He is anxious to see what mysteries lie concealed below, but restrains himself to allow Charlarn his full concentration.

Charlarn furrows his brow as he reads the ground. He gets up and sets his shield. "It looks like a huge snake came through here recently. There are also signs of clawed animals. I can't tell if they were coming or going, so we should keep a close watch. May the Searcher guide us through."

Ashnar gives the large entrance a measuring look as Charlarn reports his findings. "Can you tell how huge of a snake?" she asks. "That entrance could accommodate quite a size."

"Very big. The tracks are too jumbled for me to make a better guess than that."

[sblock=Tenebrynn]You don't recall any stories about anything in this area (excepting the hydra that Rilithorne polymorphed). You do recall some stories where "giant snakes" factor heavilyinto the mythology of various reptilian races.

Speaking generally, there are several things which could pass as "giant snakes," including behirs, couatls, legless dragons, purple worms, thoquua and other magical ctreatures. At this point you don't have that much information to work with.[/sblock]
