THE MATRIX: Ghosts of Tomorrow

The six of you stand back to back. You've been cornered. Around you, there must be twenty cops with guns trained on your chests.

I pitty them, too. Poor fools.

They seem anxious. Most likely they don't know what they're dealing with; they always seem to be surprised. One of them, a stocky man, thirtyish with brown hair, glances over his shoulder. He swallows at what he sees.

A tall professional looking gent is quickly approaching with a measured, brisk pace. His black suit and black pants are ironed perfectly. The black sunglasses are at a perfect angle. His calm, too, seems to be black and perfect.

Damn, you think. This just got a lot harder.

what do you do?

For my reference, Player (Character: skill/motivation)

Page (Spiral: bladed weaons/revenge brother)
Festy_Dog (Ferret: guns/find the One)
Dalamar (Path: martial arts/find lost love)
Bob Aberton (Veritas: perceptive/spread the word)
Kalanyr (Code: dodge/understand matrix)
Thomas Hobbes (Augustine: martial arts/find god)

Calm, not showing his nervousness, Path drops to one knee. As he does, he crosses his arms across his chest, reaching for the Desert Eagles holstered under his arms.
Light glints off of the barrels of his guns as he aims each to a different cop, firing almost immediately after getting them out from under his deep grey trench-coat. The DE in his right hand looses a bullet to the throat of a cop to his left, the one in his left hand to the stomach of another to his right, both weapons spitting smoking cartridges out of them.
Before the cartridges have had time to hit the ground Path straightens both his guns towards the approaching agent and pulls the trigger under his right index finger, followed quickly by the one under his left one.
As the empty cartridges from his very first shots hit the ground, another two bullets escape from Path's Desert Eagles, again aimed at the vitals of the danger approaching in an ironed suit.

Sighing, Code reaches into his trenchcoat drawing two razorsharp steel swords as with a *ting* as he races towards the poor cops, thinking to himself (Take out the cops, then deal with the big threat). As he closes with the cops Code bunches his legs and jumps impossibly high into the air even as he throws one of his swords at the furtherest police officer its razor edged tip glinting in the sunlight as it flies, as his feet touch down on the side of the building Code races down the side of it using the momentum as he hits the ground to run down the line of cops his blade lashing out quickly, left and right, as he dodges their counterattacks. Reaching the end of the line of cops, Code turns to keep his eye on the oncoming doom that is the agent, prepared to leap to the side at the first sign of a weapon.

When his gaze fall upon the approaching Agent, Augustine's lips press in to a hard, thin line as he tenses before diving forward, landing on both hands, and pushing off with them. He flies through the air before planting both feet squarely on one of the policemen's chest, bearing him down and launching himself at the next rank, his arms swinging down like scythes to chop at the base of their necks. He lands as their bodies slump to the ground, and swings his leg around at shin height 360 degrees, bringing a number of his enemies to the floor with dull thuds.

ooc: How many sentences are we restricted to? I could go on and on, and unless the Agent is similar long-winded, he wouldn't stand a chance. :D

"Run away, little pawns," Ferret says to the cops.

Then hell breaks loose. Ferret draws his FiveseveN's as he runs up the the closest cop. He uses the guy as a kind of ramp, and from the downward force of jumping from his face the cop's head is left resting between his shoulder blades. He passes through the air, arms angled downward to either side, his pistols spitting 5.7mm death into the horriefied law enforcers. He lands on another cop's shoulders, and clamp's the guy's head between his thighs. A hard twist later the cop is devoid of life and Ferret has rolled into cover.

Veritas scrutinizes the policemen.

Poor deluded sons of b*tches...

He takes one step back, then lauches himself at the policemen, drawing his pistol and knife from his belt at the same time.

He leaps into the air and descends toward the officers of the law in a slow, graceful arc, his handgun firing as fast as he can pull his work the trigger.

He lands silently and cat-like next to a police officer, with his gun arm out and searching for targets and his knife slitting the officer's throat. Using the dying officer as a shield, he drops his knife and grabs the policeman's gun, blazing away at the surviving officers with both hands, the noise of his guns a steady, reassuring beat, accompanied by the clatter of spent shell casings. The body of the officer is slumped against his chest as a shield, and he keeps a wary eye on the Agent.

Hmm . . . good question. I won't limit the number of lines or anything, but no move, for either free mind nor agent nor normal, can garner more than twenty dice. Sound good?

I'll post the moves of the Agents and Free Minds, and break down your moves into dice, then do all the rolling once Page has posted his move.

Path

Calm, not showing his nervousness (+1D), Path drops to one knee(+1D). As he does, he crosses his arms across his chest(+1D), reaching for the Desert Eagles holstered under his arms(+1D).
Light glints off of the barrels of his guns(+1D) as he aims each to a different cop(+1D), firing almost immediately after getting them out from under his deep grey trench-coat(+1D). The DE in his right hand looses a bullet to the throat of a cop to his left(+1D), the one in his left hand to the stomach of another to his right(+1D), both weapons spitting smoking cartridges out of them(+1D).
Before the cartridges have had time to hit the ground(+1D) Path straightens both his guns towards the approaching agent(+1D) and pulls the trigger under his right index finger(+1D), followed quickly by the one under his left one(+1D).
As the empty cartridges from his very first shots hit the ground(+1D), another two bullets escape from Path's Desert Eagles(+1D), again aimed at the vitals of the danger approaching in an ironed suit(+1D).

Total dice: 18.

Veritas

Veritas scrutinizes the policemen.(+1D)(+1D)

Poor deluded sons of b*tches... (+1D)

He takes one step back(+1D), then lauches himself at the policemen(+1D), drawing his pistol and knife from his belt at the same time(+1D).

He leaps into the air(+1D) and descends toward the officers of the law in a slow, graceful arc(+1D), his handgun firing as fast as he can pull his work the trigger.(+1D)

He lands silently and cat-like next to a police officer,(+1D) with his gun arm out and searching for targets(+1D) and his knife slitting the officer's throat. (+1D)Using the dying officer as a shield,(+1D) he drops his knife and grabs the policeman's gun,(+1D) blazing away at the surviving officers with both hands,(+1D) the noise of his guns a steady, reassuring beat,(+1D) accompanied by the clatter of spent shell casings. Total dice: 20. Sh*t, that's the max. Nice job!

The Agent

As you level your guns at the Agent(+1D), he spins towards you(+1D), his dark glasses glinting in the midday light(+1D), and whips out a black pistol from a shoulder holster(+1D). With unbelievable rapidity(+1D), he fires off a series of shots . . . not at Path, he realizes, but at Path's bullets(+1D). IN the same fluid motion(+1D), he empties the rest of his clip in the general direction of the Free Minds(+1D), then hurls the gun, discus style, at Ferret(+1D). Leaping over the circle of policemen(+1D), the Agent sails through the air(+1D), landing in the middle of the circle of defenders with a readied stance(+1D).

The Agent looks Augustine in the eye.(+1D) “Mister Davis,” he says. “God is not pleased.”(+1D)

Total dice: 15.

The Cops

As soon as Path fires, (+1D) the officers that had a moment ago been frozen as if statues spring to life(+1D), wildly spraying bullets with the panic of a bear in a trap(+1D). They are obviously not used to this(+1D), and fear is etched upon all their faces(+1D). Faces that look way to human for comfort.(+1D)

Total dice: 6.

Wow. This is going great. Feel free to add minor elements of the setting, I left it vauge purposefully. Just keep it relatively urban.

Grinning icily as the primal thrill of combat starts rushing through him, Spiral leaps into the air with impossible speed, two gleaming, razor sharp throwing daggers suddenly appearing in each hand. As his lean form arcs through the air, the daggers flash from his fingertips, leaving momentary, silvery trails behind them as the blades glint in the light before they each slam into a cop's throat. While the victims fall to the pavement, thrashing and gurgling in their death throes, Spiral lands with a roll, gracefully coming to his feet right in the midst of three other cops. The deep black lenses of his sunglasses mirror the terrified expressions of the men standing in front of him as he quickly draws his katana with a clear ringing sound, the sound of inevitable death. In one smooth, blurred, savagely powerful motion, Spiral swings his blade across the necks of the two cops in front of him, sending their heads toppling from their bodies in what almost seems like slow motion. Before their bodies even hit the ground, Spiral reverses his swing, spins around and drops to his knees, a bullet zipping through the air where his own head had been a fraction of a second ago. The policeman who fired that bullet gasps in shock as Spiral's blade slashes across his gut, sending him to the ground in agony. In the blink of an eye, Spiral rolls to his right and comes back to his feet, katana in hand, readying himself for the true menace of the rushing Agent.

**************ROUND TWO**************

Hold on a sec, it's my cell.

bleep bleep bleep

Never mind. It's yours, Spiral. Around all of you, the Construct has frozen the scene, bodies of the cops flying through the air at on angles, the Agent flying through the air on a decidedly more deadly vector.

When you answer the phone, a familiar high voice is waiting. It's Bug, the Operator on your hovercraft, the Ramses II.

"Hey, on the monitor it looks like you were doing well. Yawanna try it wi' two Agents, this time, or are you ready for out? Uh--one sec . . ." Bug's voice trails off. He's probably speaking with CODENAmE, the captain. In a moment, he's back on. "The Boss says you should come on out. He's got something you all should see, apparently." You can see nothing of the young operator, but I'd bet a lump sum that he's grinning impishly. "Trust me. You're gonna like it."

Spiral nods, suppressing the slight tinge of regret he always feels when it's time to go back.

"Right. Bring us out, then. See you when we get there."

Spiral collapses the phone and it disappears beneath his sleek leather jacket with a quick flick of his wrist. He turns to the others, addressing them in his usual subdued fashion.

"Well, game's over for now. Bug says the Captain has something good to show us."
