Gene: maps like that are absolutely fine by me. The only exception would be when the terrain has some complex features, then it could get confusing sometimes, but I guess even that can be solved...
Personally I prefer a quicker-paced game to prettier maps.

That kind of map is perfect with me. Yeah, it is less good looking, but I prefer a lot more functional maps. I can imagine the situation with teh description or my imagination.

Nope, just to charge blindly into combat. I'm trying the cautious tactic and I'll find probably the best is something in the middle. Anyway, the role fo teh defender is to be at the front.
