Tiny creatures and 5 foot step and halfling sized shillelagh

Do tiny and smaller creatures, which do not threaten spaces and need to step into another creatures square to attack, draw an AoO if they five foot step into the characters square?

On one hand, the five foot step never causes an AoO

On the other hand, they are entering an occupied square...

So which is it?

On another topic:

Does a halfling using a downsized club for one handed use (say a 1d4 damage dealing club) who casts Shillelagh still do 1d10 damage? Does it work at all?

Your wisdom and comments are apreciated in advance.

A 5-foot-step never provokes AoOs regardless of the circumstances involved.

I fear that is why there is no such thing as a 'down-sized' club. However one could possibly make one. If so downscale the spells effect accordingly.

True, but according to the FAQ, you'll still get an AoO in this situation. A five-foot step does not incur an AoO due to movement through a threatened square; however, entering an opponent's square (to grapple, bull rush, or for a Tiny creature to attack) always does, regardless of how or why the square was entered. This is an AoO caused by an action, like casting a spell, for example, and not by a movement. (To clarify-if a Tiny creature moves 10' into your square to attack you, you'd an AoO for two separate reasons-because it left the square 5' from you, and because it entered your square. If it enters your square due to a 5' step, you only get the second kind.)

Also with bull rush, the step causes AOO from enemies near you as well. I don't consider it a 5 foot step but a 5 foot move, because it takes a little bit more to get in to someone square, then to just hop over a square.

Ah, you nailed it.

Of course, you can't make a 5-foot step into somebody else's square because it is not normally allow to move into or through a space occupied by an enemy. You cannot even make a 5-foot step into a space occupied by an ally (unless that ally is dropped, of course).
