touch attacks , Rays and how to specialize with?

Range touch attacks most with no save, rays can cripple the biggest & strongest, can render a spell caster useless and make a rogue hapless. I have a new found respect for them after seeing a spectral hand deliver a touch of idiocy. This one attack started and completed a TPK! Who woulda thought one sneaky little grey hand could cause so much trouble! It left our party Sorcerer unable to cast anything but 1st level spells and then the party Cleric unable to cast at all. It was down hill from there, I had 4 men from my unit playing that night and a TPK wasnt on our minds!

I want one! I mean I want to play a caster that specializes with touch attacks both ranged and by hand - sprectral hand! Maybe like a Ray specialist? Not the eldritch blast from Warlock but actual touch attack spells

Im looking to be as unmerciful as possible, nobody in this group has done this before. spells feats, tricks of the "touch" trade, meta magic feats, split ray is one I know of, class -suggestions/ideas/advice is all wgood and welcome

thanks again guys

Everything is fairly straight forward.
One would take Weapon Focus (Ray), etc.
One would also have some options in just how one wanted to deliver the attacks.
Touch attacks are some of the best in the game, but doing them at range is just brutal, because you won't be taking AoO's.

The main thing you should be thinking about is your Spellbook. The spells you choose will be more than 90% of your "specialization"

After that, any prestige class with full casting progression and generally decent class features is the best choice.

Feats are of less concern than most builds.

Before anyone gets into any specifics though, details are needed. Did you have a specific class you would be taking? Wizard, or Sorcerer? What ECL are you looking for? How much versatility do you want? Or do you just want a link to a completed Optimized Character Build? If it's the last one, learning how to use Google is a good life skill.

Weapon Focus: Ray isn't really the most useful feat, nor are Point Blank Shot and Precise shot in my opinion. What you should be working with are metamagic feats like Split Ray, Reach Spell, and etc.

brief detials: 15th level/gestalt and evil, have most books,

Players are all making 2 skeleton builds each, we will randomly roll magicals until reaching 1/2 the alloted funds, the other 1/2 we may purchase as we please. So Im going to make 2 skeleton builds for DM's approval, determine magicals and then pick wich one works the best. 1 build I am making a summoner/conjuration spec and this build a touch attack guru...sprectral hand will be my friend Im sure!

feat: split ray
heart ripper
and I now know the spell comp. has a lot/several new (for me) ray spells is there another good source or rays and touch spells? Has anybody compiled a list of all that is touch?

hey and thanks for the lead of spell warp sniper...seems odd to take a 10d6 fireball with a 20' radius explosion and reduce it to a no save 10d6 fire ray that only effects 1 person but Im sure there will be times where its usefull.
