Vampire's Dominate vs. Warforged

Arcadio

First Post
A question came up in the game I'm running after a vampire dominated a warforged. A warforged is not a humanoid, so would not be subject to a dominate person spell. But is a vampire's dominate ability the same as the dominate person spell? Or is it it's own ability that has the same affects as a dominate person spell?

From the SRD's Vampire entry:
Dominate (Su): A vampire can crush an opponent’s will just by looking onto his or her eyes. This is similar to a gaze attack, except that the vampire must use a standard action, and those merely looking at it are not affected. Anyone the vampire targets must succeed on a Will save or fall instantly under the vampire’s influence as though by a dominate person spell (caster level 12th). The ability has a range of 30 feet.

From the SRD's Dominate Person entry:
Target: One humanoid

I don't know how you could misinterpret the ability description. It works explicitly like a Dominate Person spell of 12th caster level. So no, it does not effect a Warforged.
