Appearance: Eleth, being a creature born of shadow, has dark grey skin, black hair, and pale grey eyes. Standing tall and slim, he has an air of unearthly grace and speed about him. Eleth carries a sword at his side, but his prize possession is his bow, carved out of the tooth of an ancient red dragon, which is strong enough that few men can string it. Eleth wears a black cloak which shrouds him in shadows, and is often unnoticed if he wishes not to be conspicuous.
Personality: Eleth is quick of mind, and prone to acting on instinct. His life in the Underdark has given him an appreciation for its native races not normally found in elves. Prone to silence, Eleth prefers deeds over words, and often will forgo any planning in favor of simply dealing with life as it comes. Eleth rarely expresses emotion, a legacy of his enslavement, but when he does, it is with great force behind it.
Background: Ashara Starfall, Eleth’s mother, was a powerful sun priestess of Correllon Larenthian. In many ways, her closeness to her god was her downfall during the destruction of divinity that preceded the Draconic invasion. Pregnant at the time of the fall of Correllon, she grew slowly more mad, seeking a way to return to Correllon’s grace. At last, maddened by her failures, she attempted experimenting with elemental shadow in an attempt to bind the essence of shadow to herself, hoping that such an action would allow her greater ability to see the light that would be a fragment of Correllon’s power. Instead of becoming part of her, the shadow which she bound attached itself to her unborn child. The child was born less than a week before the Dragons invaded. Most of the elves were killed or kept as slaves, as Sssarendor, an ancient and incredibly powerful Shadow Dragon, began his rule of the area. Kartath was amused by the shadow child, and kept him as a pet. Raised as the servant boy of a Draconic overlord, Eleth practically lived on tales of resistance handed down by word of mouth from other slaves. But unlike many who tried escape and died, Eleth was patient. He waited, and for four long centuries he served his master, first as errand boy, then as attendant. Those four centuries burned suffering into Eleth’s eyes, as he forced himself to ignore all around him, killing his feelings one by one so as to keep up the charade, to find a way out to revenge. And after 400 years his time came. While Sssarendor was away at a council, a Felldrake, posing as a messenger, tricked the guards into believing that he had been sent to bring Kartath’s slaves to him for an extended stay at council. And so was Eleth freed and led to the Underdark. There he began his tutelage in the art of the bow under an aged drow named T’zath. A swift study, Eleth became skilled at shooting a bow and became a skilled tracker, always honing his dragonhunting abilities. When T’zath died he left to Eleth his bow, Dragonbane, which he had carved out of the tooth of a red dragon he slew. Since then Eleth has been a prominent member of the resistance.
