Nope, if the power has a specific range specified the reach of the person using it doesn't matter.
reach matters if the range is 'weapon'
No, Melee 2 does not refer to your reach.
Melee touch refers to your reach without your weapon.
Melee weapon refers to your reach with your weapon.
Melee 2 means 2 squares, the same as a feat that extends the range of your weapon does not affect Ranged 10 powers. The presence of the Weapon keyword is irrelevant to this point.
Also, weapons that have reach do not have 'Reach 1.' They have 'reach' which adds 1 to your reach when using that weapon.
You have a reach of 1. A weapon without reach has a reach, in your hands, of 1. A weapon with reach, in your hands, has a reach of 2. At no point does a weapon with reach ever have "Reach 1". Nonexistant concept is nonexistant.
Melee 2 is a Melee attack with a set range. If you can understand it not increasing things with set ranges, you should be able to accept this. The reach of the Thorn Strike is in no way related to how far you can reach with your weapon.I can understand something like range 10 not increasing, or bursts and blasts with set ranges.

But why do all the other powers that are normal melee and only attack adjacent squares, extent there attacks 1 square.
yet the attack that is one square out, due to things extending from the weapon, doesnt go out 1 more square, it doesnt make sense.
