Where do Banished creatures end up

Recently, while we were in Acheron, our party's fighter was sent back to his home plane by a Dispel Good. We would like to try and get him back, but we realized we had no idea where on his home plane he would end up in. So were do creatures get set if they are banished? The last spot they were on their home plane? A random spot? A spot they desire? What if multiple party members get sent back (by separate banishments)?

Wherever it makes the most fun for the game. Seriously. Since there is no specific location, they are banished to a random location, so the DM should just come up with one which works best for the purposes of the game.
