Your Favorite 2nd lvl Arcane Spell ?

Oh, c'mon, it's got to be Tasha's Hideous Laughter . I particularly love the material components: tiny tarts (which are thrown at the target) and a feather (which is waved in the air). I'll admit that as spells go it isn't particularly useful (the target's only out for 1d3 rounds), but the role-playing aspects of it are great.

How can Alter Self not be on that list?!? It is definitely the best 2nd level spell out there... I actually find it better than Polymorph Self, since I retain my physical stats (which are usually better than 10s all around) and appearance if I so wish it. It's a poor man's fly or water breathing. It has a ton of uses.

I also think Alter Self should have been on the list... Just the sheer versatility.

Detect Thoughts is one of the most useful information-gathering spells in the game. My DM doesn't even allow the spell in his game world, it has such potential to be unbalancing. If you can learn it in your game, do it!

Invisibility Rocks.
It lets you get into position and lay down some smack, get away and do all sorts of sneaky stuff.

The only bad thing, they nerfed the duration... Rats No more 24 hour hiding...
