Subscribers now get the entire WAR OF THE BURNING SKY campaign saga - in 4E AND 3.5!

Starting today, subscribers will notice that the first adventure in the War of the Burning Sky campaign saga has appeared in the exclusive content area - in both 4E and 3.5 versions!

Over the coming months (well, more than a year), expect to see the whole saga appear. Players of 4E and 3.5 are both catered for, with different versions for each. And these aren't just the same file with the stats changed - they are entirely different products designed specifically for the game systems in question.

War of the Burning Sky has been critically acclaimed, garnering a host of glowing reviews. For more information on the War of the Burning Sky campaign saga (both in 3.5 and 4E versions), click here!

Well I am peeved, to say the least. I brought the entire 3E (and not at the $1 special) and have pre-ordered the entire 4E campaign as well. I don't mind this happening a little bit but to have my entire and very expensive purchase go up for free makes me sad. I mean free in that if I hadn't brought it I would have still got it. Especially as I still am awaiting all of the 4E version... it is just wasted money for the majority of the 'modules'.

It is a good deal and I would recommend it to anyone but you guys have ruined my day

Yet another reason for people to consider PDFs valueless. A 12-part adventure becomes a door prize. Sad.

It's not free (although I'm happy for people to view $3 per month as "free" if that persuades them to sign up, so I probably shouldn't be empasizing that point too hard!). The subscription has a monthly fee. I have zero intention of giving away 12 adventures which cost thousands of dollars each to develop for free!

This is simply a way to move the process from third-party vendors to in-house. It means not giving nearly half the proceeds to online stores, and helps drive a sustainable monthly revenue stream for EN World directly.

It sounds like a good idea, Morrus, but I think cat's point was that he is a subscriber who has already paid around $80-100 for the AP (both versions), and might feel a little screwed. I know I feel a little stupid for forking over $40 for something that I would have gotten for free (since I subscribe anyway) now, with the AP still being only at the 3rd adventure (which means it's quite delayed, no?)

The 3.5 version if The Scouring of Gate Pass was released three years ago. Subscriber got a three-year advantage!

For the RPGNow 4E subscribers, I am happy to "convert" the original sub to a community supporter sub of equivalent value, but you'll be six months or so behind the RPGNow releases that way and at an equivalent rate you wouldn't end up with all 12 adventures that way since the equivalent sub here wouldn't last long enough.

So RPGNow subscribers got very good value. But if they honestly feel that this is a better deal, I'm happy to convert the purchase price of the rpgnow sub to an equivalent value EN World account. It's completely your choice!

What a great deal for new subscribers, particularly those who were on the fence about what adventure series to play next. Thanks, Morrus!

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand:

So as an ENWorld supporter I get the 3E and 3E version for 3$/month, i.e. 36$ total.

As an RPGNow subscriber I get only the 4E version for 50$ total.

Now, what's the advantage for the RPGNow subscriber again?

Here it's not per month, so it's not $36. it'll take over 2 years here. So it's $72. In addition, it's behind the rpgnow subscriber releases by 6 months.

Whether that's an advantage to you or not is something nobody but you can decide. As I said, I'm willing to convert an rpgnow sub over to an EN World one of the same value ($49 or 14 months or whatever 49/3 is). If you think that's a better deal, convert it over. If you think the rpgnow deal is better, stuck with it. I don't mind which you choose - I'm not trying to persuade you towards one or the other.

If you suck more people into the adventure path then your golden either way.

This is a very nice added bonus to signing up. I hope it works out.

Wow, great deal. I don't think I can resist...

Does kinda suck for folks who paid full for it, but I guess at least they had the pdfs all this time to use.

Just out of curiosity, why are the file sizes so greatly different?

As an extension of that, if you tell me that any game is the same just because you roleplay the same, then as far as I am concerned, you don't get the point.

I think it's very cool. I hope it brings in more CS subscriptions. If I didn't already have one, this may have tipped me over. It's the first offered bennie that I liked (or didn't already have).

Ah, alright, that's the part I didn't understand. So, it's either one of the 4E adventures or one of the 3E adventures per month.

Yep. Well, I'll either alternate them monthly or just do both at the same time bi-monthly. But roughly ever two months for each.

The 4E file's a little larger, but then the 4E adventure is a little larger.

I see this as a nice bonus for subscribers. I already have the 3.5 saga, wasn't going to spring for the 4e version. I get it at a slow trinkle so much the better.

If I was going to run the 4e version anytime soon I'd have picked up the 4e sub already

Mainly, there's a heaping load more color interior art in the 4E version (tactical maps, primarily, but also some illustrations).
