Well I think the challenge is edition-less. You have added the challenge by your unique take on 4E. I dunno how it works in Toronto (see the Us vs UK gaming thread!) but finding new players here is like finding hen's teeth. So how about, while keeping the same style, you find a way to drop the lethality? Maybe dropping the assumed CR level to 0 or 1 and take it from there?

sounds like a good call, you could even keep it (make it d100) but make the extremes far less common i.e. +4 is 00.
