Meliara follows along with Thorn as quietly as she can, though she is neither particularly quiet nor stealthy. When Thorn indicates it's getting too dangerous for her to continue she finds as safe as spot as she can to hide while Thorn continues forward just a little further.

Lia watches the human woman disappear before her eyes and shakes her head in wonder. "Now that's a useful skill," she remarks to her dragon, who is curling up on her shoulder as she rubs it under it's chin. She slips behind a large burnt out tree while keeping an eye out for the area where Thorn disappeared, waiting for a signal in case she was needed to go forward to help or go back to report quickly.

OOC: I've tried to change the tag on this thread from Star Trek back to Pathfinder to no avail, so I guess just keep going boldly where no man has gone before and ignore the tag for now. I'll try and get a moderator to fix it.

Thorn move into the camp gliding silently from shadow to shadow while Meliara stands by in a good hiding place should she get into trouble. The Tiefling guards are watching, but not very carefully. They clearing don't fear intruders as they are at the top of the food chain. Thorn has to move slowly as there are a lot of Tieflings, but soon enough she is deep within the enemy camp where the ruined buildings house demonic forces. The small provides adequate evidence of their presence even before she begins to catch snatches of the their disturbing clamorous language. Moving quietly is easy as this close to the Worldwound the vegetation is almost non-existent and the trees lost their last leaves years ago. The talking is coming from one of the ruined stoned buildings.

OOC: Does Thorn speak abyssal? Will you approach closer and try and get a look inside?

(OOC - lol...you know, it's the kind of thing she SHOULD be able to speak, given that she's built to be a demon-hunter, but with Int 10 and no Speak Language, it seems not! Argh, oversights! :) I'll fix that with the next levelup, but for now it seems it ain't happening.)

Despite her efforts to learn the demonic language, Thorn was still not proficient enough to pick up on their conversation. As such, to get anything useful, she'd need to actually SEE something. It was risky, but there was very little that could spot her when she put her mind to it. Sometimes it felt as if she could feel where they were looking, could sense those perfect fleeting moments when it was safe to flit from cover to cover...

Like a ghost, like a shadow, she crossed to the old ruined building to get a look at what the demons were plotting...

(Using 1 Mythic Power to take 20 on Stealth (Mythic Trickster ability) with normal time needed to do so. Stealth result is 33.)

OOC: Smart move using the mythic thing. Your target was a 31!

After a very careful approach Thorn found a crack in the wall she could see inside with. The sight within took her breath away. He was so handsome. She felt an immediate stirring, a strong desire to go to him. So beautiful, so powerful, so masculine. There were others in the room, but she only had eyes for him. There was a fluttering in her stomach, would she be worthy? Thorn blinked and pulled herself together. The beautiful, but obviously demonic creature had to be an Incubus. He began kicking and berating a group of lesser demons. They were small and round, built with massive arms and protruding bellies--Dretch. He was obviously ordering them to do something Thorn knew they had a reputation for laziness with anything but destruction. The Incubus was obviously in charge here. Despite the language barrier she was sure he must be telling them to prepare themselves for a fight to come. He then proceeded to call for a group of Tieflings. Blessedly he spoke common this time. His voice was so rich, so melodic. She longed to hear him speak to her. She once again controlled her response to his presence. He was ordering more patrols for dawn. He knew an army was near. He knew that the other Tiefling army was defeated. He was getting ready for war.

Thorn felt sick to her stomach as she took the scene in. Her body's reaction to the demon, though wholly unintentional, was anathema to her. It channeled right back around into an unreasoning hate; a desire to snuff this thing out so it could no longer tug on her animal impulses.

Hate could be as seductive as lust, perhaps, in its own way.

She withdrew from the demon's headquarters, marking its location and appearance as she crept back out to rendezvous with the others and tell them what she'd seen here.

After Sheldon had received the urgent call that he was needed for critical defense of the Queen, Denir steps to the fore to direct the army. While he was not a paladin, he was perhaps in his true calling, walking the line between faith and war more the others. The paladins had no trouble accepting him, despite some differences. Their goals were the same. Denir called the party and the sargents together for orders before signalling the army to move forward and engage.

[sblock=OOC] Ok, so our army will be using the expert flanking tactic. As the army moves forward, the left and right cavalry will sweep out to engage the enemy's flanks. Meanwhile, we will have Lia and Banaq in the rear guard (ideally on high ground) to cast spells into the midst of the opponents and help control the battlefield. Vakeva will be near them sniping the leaders that he can find in the opposing side. Denir will of course, lead the charge for the central column. Thorn can either rain down arrows along with Keva, or circle round to the rear and create havoc in the back by picking off stragglers, diabling the leaders or ambushing those fleeing. (I think that accounts for everyone still in the game [/sblock]

Meliara listened carefully to her directions, though hers were simple enough; stay out of hand to hand combat and rain down destructive spells from above. She could do that.

"Good luck everyone, may the gods be with us today." She gave them each a small smile, before checking out of the conversation.

Lia didn't run off but truthfully this was not her thing. She was not a seasoned warrior like Keva or Denir, or Sheldon who unnervingly had to leave them right before this battle. Or rather, Meliara wasn't bred for this, she wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the Worldwound forcing it on all of them. No, she'd probably be off in an exotic city somewhere, learning her craft by day, singing for coin for her own pleasure at night then spending that same coin on other pleasures even later. She was too young to be in the middle of a savage war, yet here she was, her childhood and youth taken from her. Because of that experience, this battle wasn't as terrifying as it probably should have been but still she was frightened. She wouldn't let on though. She had powerful skills that were needed and she would do what she could to rid this evil scourge from the world so maybe one day her own children - or someone else's in the likely event she didn't survive this war - could have the childhood she didn't.

Lia's dragon must have felt her nervousness because she slithered out of the deep pocket in her robe and wrapped herself around Lia's arm and shoulder, snuggling under her long red hair. Lia reached up and pet the dragon while the others spoke and finished the very final preparations.
